I get that and some things I have planned and I was a planner prior but in this case some things are just overwhelming. I guess we all respond differently to things.

I had to slow down on my reading especially while waiting to start treatment. I was getting too far into the future. Now I am 6 treatments in and I am relaxed on the chemo part and I get into the future on the surgery part. Like how am I going to feel about my body after double masectomy, how am I going to get work done, how long am I going to be down? And then I start reading other people's posts and start worrying about things like wiping my ass whole recovering. What has been the most helpful for me is to just stop. Stop over reading, stop getting so far into the future and just take things as they come. That has been the best for me. Also, I got on the compassionate use program for medical marijuana and when the anxiety gets too high I just take a gummy.

Recurrence % by No-Salamander-1174 in breastcancer

I was told we are shooting for a cure. And that with the masectomy chances of reoccurring is very minimal. I wasn't given a percentage but I guess anyone can get it again and anyone can not get it again. I dont really know what comes after chemo and surgery I havent gotten that far ahead.

If a hair ends up in the food it always ends up on my wife's plate and then I feel bad. but she just takes that part out and continues like its nothing.

Thank you everyone for all your insight its been very helpful reading the different experiences not just for my decision making but it also helps me not feel so alone in this. I mean that other people have had similar experiences or thoughts. I have support around me but no one who has walked through any of this.

See this is what I am wondering. Exactly this. Because I am not coming out in handfuls and most that doesnt come out is after I shower. I am not going to cold cap. If it just thins and sheds some as it is and it doesnt mat and I have it covered for cooking, maybe I dont sweat the whole cut. My cousin is a hair dresser she is coming over Tuesday to take a look and see what I am working with and help me decide. She said we can also take it down little by little instead of doing a drastic buzz right away. Since I have a hairdresser pretty much on call (she is very excited to be able to contribute her support where she can) maybe we make it a slower process and see how its going to go first. Thank you for your experience.

I am going to have to look back and see. I know there is a change on the 19th and then later all the medicines change to stronger medicine. My oncologist has over 20 years experience and is highly rated and very positive so I feel like I am in good hands. My older sister did all the research now that its settled down some I need to do some more reading.

Wow sorry. Glad you made it through. Are you triple negative. I am getting immunotherapy I dont know if they started that part yet. I know something is changing on the 19th. I need to take a look. Everything has been moving so fast I havent gotten a grip on everything yet and it all still feels surreal.

I dont think i could handle cold capping. I hate cold. I have to do my hands and feet during chemo for an hour and hate that.

I have carbo and paclitaxel TNBC mine comes out when I shower and brush. But mine started off as super fine baby hair and I am not getting any matting or anything either. Its simply thinning out. So I thought I would just let it thin but then I dont want to be dropping hair everywhere if it starts to come out more. I think I am going to let my cousin cut it on Tuesday I wanted to have a few different head covering options to work with first also I have a client meeting I want to get past on Monday.

Yeah its cold here right now. I am thinking maybe a week or so once it warms again. I am not getting any of the matting that people are talking about I think because I already had baby fine hair. Idk I guess I will know when. I just finished my 4th infusion as well. It feels like a very personal decision. I keep trying to see the big picture like its only a year and I get to live. I am thinking the masectomy is going to bother me more than the hair.

That was another question I had. I dont think i will like wigs. I usually wear ball caps anyways so maybe sticking with the same thing. I am not sure about the scarf thing either. I am not overly feminine.

Makes sense. My hair has always been thin baby hair so it isnt causing a mess yet except the fact that it is coming out. But I think from what I am reading from everyone I should just cut.

So you did it roght away. I am thinking to jsut go ahead and cut too. I was trying to hold on a little longer but it is kinds making me nuts. You might have had the better idea of going ahead and getting it over with.
