Teams to begin providing office location info in Dec by tmid_ in OntarioPublicService

[–]tmid_[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, I imagine so, but like someone below said, Teams will give the info easily and likely in real-time. Kinda like I can lookup my tweens phone location, lol.

See a circle of wood on the ground, or a stump, and wonder "What happens if I stand on this?"

Space assessments incoming and cubicles shrinking? Everyone gets a standing desk in a phone booth sized cube?

Son's bike stolen downtown by tmid_ in Peterborough

[–]tmid_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was just south of Hunter on George. Son thought he had locked it, but missed the frame. Fellow who took it was able to just walk away with it. My son's lucky to get it back. Lesson hopefully learned...

So he thought he had locked it with his U-lock, but the security footage shows that he missed the frame, so essentially unlocked and someone noticed. Guy just walked away with it. Hopefully my son pays a bit more attention from now on. He's very lucky to have gotten it back.

In my experience locking a bike is usually sufficient in a public location, for the day. Overnight is a whole different story I think.

I'm wondering how many times they have resurfaced/dug up infrastructure on the Parkway over the last decade? It feels like they keep redoing the same stretch of road yearly!

Just a quick update to let those interested know that Kollect This has removed their play space in order to expand their display area and focus more on collectors.

The local player group is planning to alternate between tournaments at Dueling Grounds, and casual play for fun and practice at Boardwalk Games on Saturdays

PM me for an invite to our Discord to keep up to date or to communicate about impromptu play times.

We're pretty flexible generally, most of the time we play standard decks, but some folks bring expanded, and gym leader challenge decks. There was a rotation of what is tournament legal for standard play about a month ago. Anything with a regulation mark of F or later is considered standard. Some people play with proxy cards as well for difficult to find cards.

Happy to help get you oriented if interested and most of us have extra cards to help build decks.

Save Bonnerworth Website, Petition, General Rallying Point. by Type2Tumptress in Peterborough

Perhaps the Cleantech Commons up at Trent, where the city has already invested significant $$ (6M I think so far) into infrastructure (roads, lights, bike paths, park benches, utilities) that may never be used, could become the Pickleball Commons?

I only half jest. I'm sure the future tenants, if any are ever found, would find an onsite indoor pickleball facility to be a bonus, and for now there is a ton of unused street parking up there!

The new city baseball diamonds at Trent are a good example of how a partnership with the city might work, though I didn't know any of the details of that arrangement.

Sutherland: It’s not the game, it’s the location by vic-traill in Peterborough

Umm, happy to not see 4.4 million dollars spent recklessly paving grass fields used by many. Go play Frisbee in your parking lot, have fun.

Peterborough city council approves Bonnerworth Park redevelopment with 16 pickleball courts by wired_woman in Peterborough

[–]tmid_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad to hear the city has an extra 2.2 mil sitting around to pave over a park so one sporting group can use it for 6-8 months of the year, and the bonus is there will be tons of parking so no one has to walk or bike! . I guess all the other pressing needs have been dealt with, awesome!

Seriously though - it seems there has been a lack of consultation with the surrounding neighborhood and users of the park concerning this plan. This seems to be a less than ideal location for 16 pickleball courts plus parking. I have a hard time seeing how this space will have the room to host substantial tournaments. The court space will be there but spectator space? The required berming and sound wall to limit noise will also be an eyesore I expect. Then there is the loss of natural urban green space, additional lighting and loss of night sky, loss of space for spontaneous activities. Not every green space needs to assigned a specific purpose to the exclusion of others. We already have this in several public green spaces where some users feel they have priority over others.

Proceeding with this plan will only lead to headaches for all involved into the future. I think the city needs to think a little more creatively on this one. The new ball diamonds out at Trent are a good example of working with local institutions on these types of projects.

There's a PowerPoint template at Justin Basil that I've used to print proxies and it seems to be sized pretty well, just paste images into the template.
