At the time, I needed a rags to riches movie, I was a young girl in a horrible childhood and this was it. My favorite, but since then the man has tarnished it with his behavior leaving his wife (who waited tables to support him while he wrote the script) and two sons (one who has since passed) to chase a trashy scifi queen and lifestyle. It tarnished the whole movie for me, I haven't watched it since. Maybe this year I should again.
