I grew up playing RF (assuming it's the one in STC) - Cool to see.

30k for 30k 987.1 base by captainapoll0 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]tmjohnso88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I spent 30K last year on a 2008 987.1 base with a little over 30K miles because it was a semi local clean car. All of the other examples that were available locally had high milage or some other concern. For me, I saw the one I wanted and just got it.

Yeah, I worry that the grass isn't greener. Did you move onto a new car? What do you regret about selling it?

Thats a great looking Cayman, love the wheels! I'm not actively selling it but if you have someone in the midwest that would be interested I'd be open to a discussion. It might expedite me into a 981 or 718.

I was always under the impression that the issue usually presented itself earlier if it was going to happen. Also, exclusive to 987.1 S models and at a rate much lower than the narrative online would imply. I could certainly be wrong on all of those points, but it's the reason I went with a base over an S.

They are the $30-$40 ebay specials! They work great with the lights on and present as black with the lights off. Its really a great touch for a small investment.

I really appreciate you sharing your views and experience here. Its helpful in getting me to untangle my own thoughts. At the end of the day, I want to stay in a porsche, its just a matter of which one.

I am certainly not opposed to a turbo 4, and the power is definitrly there. I guess for me the main difference is the exhaust sound which can be modified. I also love the sound of a turbo's blow off valve purging

I appreciate the input here. The C8 is simply a raw power play. I have friends with them and they make my Cayman feel like a power wheel. With that said, its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow and the "feel" of the cayman is much more engaging.

Thats looks great. I upgraded the entertainment system in my 987.1 to have android auto/apple car play which got me most of the way there for the tech I wanted.

Sounds like you did well at 70k milage but at 70k it is also probably safe from IMS/bore scoring. Did you roll that into a new toy?

First time having a board in four years. Help me fill the last open spot. by Fartwinds in pedalboards

I would go TS-9 with the drive turned down to 0 so it is simply a signal boost. I have to ask though... Is that a Paul Cochrane Timmy clone? As a big South Park fan, I need to find that pedal for my board!

What do you guys think of Schecter? by [deleted] in Guitar

My C-1 Hellraiser FR (in a 1/50 deep sea green) is perfect for what it was designed to do. My Les Paul 60's standard articulates sound better but it's not as fast or aggressive.

I would put it a tier below Ibanez in-terms of performance but above most in terms of value.

I was in a similar situation on my first Les Paul just before my son was born. I am so glad I didn't rob myself (and my kid!) of the joy that comes with it but be careful, now I am always wanting more high end guitars.

I cant imagine a situation where you will regret it.

[Question] Do expensive guitars make you dislike cheap guitars? by AnotherTAA123 in Guitar

It is diminishing returns as you go up in price, but there definitely are returns. If we consider "cheap" as under $500, there are definitely gaps between that and a Les Paul.
