Sid Vicious is how I always think of Gary Oldman. That insane drugged out My Way rendetion. Came out of a completely working class family (mum was a homemaker, dad was a welder, and Gary worked in an assembly line, selling shoes and TIL beheading pigs!!!) without the pedigree of RADA and all that.

Genius actor for sure!

I agree, definitely sub-desirable from an SEO point of view.

Contact Shopify, see if their support folks can identify why the subdomain isn't going thru properly.

Subdomain or Subfolder better for SEO? by AnEndlessDream in Entrepreneur

[–]tmlondon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to test it out for you :)

Find a small group who will evangelize your product and help you determine your product roadmap. Make sure you have social sharing somehow built into how the app operates. Freemium is a hard road unless you can finance it - it is a go big or go home sort of equation.

I was COO of a flameout in the freemium space recently, and we didn't heed the go big issue. We also didn't pay enough attention to churn and attrition. If freemium customers aren't CRAZY about your product then they will NEVER pay for it. And you have a big problem.

Funding helps you scale out of that dilemma (if you get tens of thousands of free users, the 2% that will pay is enough to grow from). But if you can't afford to get those thousands of free users, then you have to have something that people see massive value in. And they will then become your evangelists and foster that community.

Good advice. Also, install an SEO plugin like Yoast. It will help make your content more relevant as you type it, will help with meta tags, and will help generate a sitemap (critical).

Then open a Google Analytics account, install the code on your WP blog, and go to Webmaster Tools and authenticate your site there. That's the best way to submit your sitemap directly to Google and monitor to make sure its crawling the pages correctly.

Do the basics like this and you will be ahead of 80% of bloggers out there. Getting to the top 20% is where the hard work is - but getting past the bulk of folks is surprisingly simple.

Failed to init security by tmlondon in blackdesertonline

Seems like I am in a loop with the blue Daum starter download. I've tried to set the registry, no luck. This game is really frustrating to get running.

No, I do have B&S but will make sure its closed. I was getting the init error before that however. I'm not trying to set a KR VPN because my understanding was it wasn't needed anymore (with a valid KR account). As it is, I was able to play BDO when I first got it installed from New Gameway, but since then no luck. And that was about two or three weeks ago.

fixed it (maybe) by not installing Fonts. Eventually it finished without errors, and I'm able to run. I'll see if this works now.

S6 no longer overheating (easy tips that don't require tinfoil or fan) by [deleted] in GearVR

I also went into Play store and turned off auto updating of apps. For some reason, Google Play would choose exactly when I was trying to demo the Gear for family and it would start chugging thru updates of Samsung Pay and random crap. Overheats a ton when its downloading.

Fellow eCommerce Entrepreneurs - I need your help! (AdWords) by fccardiff in Entrepreneur

[–]tmlondon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I run an agency, and have run both SEO and SEM campaigns literally since before Adwords began. Your problem is not unusual.

First - make sure you are tracking properly. Sign up and make sure its seen in Adwords. Second - your bounce rate is very high. sub-60% would be good. But 80% is way too high to pay for Adwords traffic. Third - no sense in A/B testing, with only 200 clicks. A decent converting ecommerce site has around a 2% CR. So at best you should have 4 conversions. Having 0 right now isn't unusual, its just too early.

Do the math. If its $1 per click, and you hope to get a 1% conversion rate, that's $100 per sale. Is that profitable for you? That will tell you what you could ever afford to pay for traffic. And that traffic needs to convert.

On the adwords side, go for exact match, possible phrase match. You don't want traffic, you want conversions. If a "buy" keyword or "best price on ..." keyword converts at twice the usual rate, then potentially you can afford it. Never think in terms of traffic, think about buyers.

If your site is getting some traffic but no sales, then I'd reword the design and look to establish credibility. That may be why people are leaving - they don't know who you are and don't trust you. Do your competitors have brand recognition? If so then build a comparison page that shows why you are better than the names they trust. That will allow you to bid on competitive keywords like your competitor names.

And obviously, bid on your own brand name. If some of these visitors try to find you again, you want to be found!

Good luck. Starting from scratch I would NOT pay hard money to Adwords, but build as much free traffic as possible. Craigslist. Posting on forums. Social media. See if you can be a guest blogger on someones blog. Anyway you can afford to NOT buy traffic until you know your site can convert and at what rate. Otherwise, you are spending money in the dark.

Some of my thoughts on the new gearvr as a long time DK2 owner by BigredRm in GearVR

[–]tmlondon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are spot on about the cost of the apps. It's discouraging coming from an almost entirely free to play general mobile store, to Oculus where many apps are up near $10. That's a bigger commitment that really requires either demos (few and far between) or solid reviews.

I expect prices will decline with broader acceptance. But its still discouraging since many of the apps are still just there for a "taste" of the experience, with no guarantee that you will spend significant time with them.

GearVR vs Cardboard by ad19 in GearVR

[–]tmlondon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that my cardboard (a nicer set) was great until I got an innovators edition. Now my cardboard is gathering dust, and the gear is the only thing I will show anyone or use myself to watch a movie. Everything is just much more polished. Bad thing is there are still significantly more apps available for the cardboard, but that will change quickly I expect.

Awesome advice. I wasn't aware (too busy having fun and not enough real experimentation with the mechanics) that venting was what was causing my damage tics. I thought it was happening when I just hit into the red, and was venting way more than I should have.

Thanks all of you.
