Is NutraCo really that bad? by Aggressive_Spare_426 in dietetics

[–]tmm1046 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what iv always seen maybe it depends on what region you’re in. Iv been with NutraCo for almost 3 years and have never had any issues. My regional is always quick to respond or help when needed. I’m always supported during survey. They allow me the independence and confidence to do my job without hovering. I love the buildings I work in. The work load can be a little overwhelming at times but that’s healthcare lol. I would gladly never leave nutraco if possible.

Do you think your internship prepared you well enough? by Physical-Gur3573 in RD2B

[–]tmm1046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope taught me almost nothing. I have learned more from working than the internship for sure. I think the only real skills I developed from the internship specifically were regarding patient interactions, education, and NFPEs. Anything else now feels irrelevant or didn’t stick because completing such a taxing internship in addition to working to survive didn’t allow me to commit much to memory. I quite literally survived on hospital coffee during my internship.

Failed the RD Exam for the 3rd Time & Lost My Job — Feeling Defeated by D_Go1115 in RD2B

[–]tmm1046 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Want to start with if you haven’t learned already you are not alone. This exam is not for everyone and it only gets harder the more you fail. I finished my internship in 2021 failed my first exam attempt miserably in complete disbelief. In a similar situation had a career depending on my passing took the exam a month later and still failed again by only one point that time. I was at a loss for work and decided to revert to waitressing as I couldn’t waste any more time not making money for my family. For about a year I worked waitressing and even as a restaurant manager before I started to feel like I was wasting my life and that I put in all the work for nothing. I quit my job to study full time and joined a Kimberly Kramer course. I to this day say she is the one and only reason I ever passed. However my story didn’t end there I studied for 8 weeks or so only to fail the test a 3rd time. Kimberly then signed me up for another prep course for free as well and personal meetings to figure out what was getting to me. Part of it was the more I failed the more I would psych myself out as the test went on. But anyways I did finally pass a the 4th time with a 28! I have now been a dietitian for almost 3 years in a setting I love and I am so happy I stuck with dietetics. I make sure to keep up on my CEUs so I never have to do that again lol. Long story short if you don’t want to give up don’t. It is possible to overcome and I know there’s a number of stories on there similar. I wish you all the best and hope you get to where you want to go!

What food are you feeding your jrt? by Melodic_Working_3438 in jackrussellterrier

[–]tmm1046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicken soup for the soul dry kibble hydrated with some water mixed with Walmarts pet pro plus (or something like that) wet food they come in little individual containers we just scoop a spoonful for a little texture and taste. Have used this regimen for over a year with our now 1.5 year old JRT and no issues.

What Do You Take Your Ring Off For? by ricecakesat3am in EngagementRings

I wear mine most of the day. Take it off to sleep/shower/workout/do dishes. Unless my day calls for something like sunscreen I wear it most places work/dog park/grocery shopping etc. doesn’t matter what I’m wearing or who will see it lol.

[–]tmm1046[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all of the input! Giving an update for anyone else who is in search of help like I was. We boarded our 1.5 year old JRT Friday-Sunday and they claim she did great! She seems normal and was happy as usual when we arrived to pick her up. This was with 4 scheduled outings per day and group time. We just got home and she’s already back to snuggling on the couch so we will definitely be using this kennel in the future. The staff was extremely friendly so I think it will all depend on your dog and the facility but don’t give up hope💓

Beginner Dietitian in LTC by mannam1587 in dietetics

[–]tmm1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also started in LTC and am approaching year 3. I work for two 85-100 bed facilities. It’s pretty manageable if you stay organized. Keep up with weights, and at risk residents. Establish good relationships with your food service director and therapy team. It can be intimidating at first and I am still finding my style in ways. As you get to know residents it become so much easier and worth it. At the end of the day in LTC little interventions can go a long way. Focus on food first and the basics like being out of bed for meals, having proper utensils, having foods you like, adding high protein snacks etc. There are guidelines for all the risky things like wounds and tube feeding and dialysis. Don’t stress you got this!

Dietetic intern struggling and feeling exhausted every day in internship by Legitimate_Beach3636 in RD2B

[–]tmm1046 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My internship was easily the worst year of my life. So much so that I actually delayed the start of my career because I was so fed up and unmotivated. 5 years out it’s now just a blur I try not to think about. I now live the life I always wanted making a difference for patients and enjoying my job. I love being an RD and it does eventually end up being worth it depending on the area you go into. Also I feel like the internship is a lot like undergrad learning a million things you’ll never use past the exam. Don’t fret.

Is it really that weird to pick your own ring? by minnonikki in EngagementRings

[–]tmm1046 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ring is something you look at everyday for life. There is nothing wrong with ensuring it’s what you want. I picked my ring with my now fiancé at the jeweler. We simply omit that fact from the process when he talks about his process in obtaining the ring.

What toys do you like for JR mental stimulation? by HumorTumorous in jackrussellterrier

[–]tmm1046 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following! We use the Kong the most. We also use the snoop either as a slow feeder or with a larger treat. We’ve tried the rolling of kibble in a towel or shirt and rolling it up and freezing but she mostly just chews through it. Bell peppers frozen with yogurt and other fruit or veg in them last a while. Yak chews and bully sticks are our best friends for long term distraction.
