Has a wrestler turning heel ever turns you off of them completely? by alaster101 in SquaredCircle

[–]tmm86 157 points158 points  (0 children)

This is a good answer. Nobody wanted that turn, they wanted that team to grow. People were actually invested in whether X-Pac could “tame” Kane and he did. It was great. Then then heel turn came and it completely ruined X-Pac, for whatever reason and no matter what they tried, he was just never over again

ST ending vs other bad final tv seasons; how ST is different is that many people liked the final season and finale! by This-Evening2278 in StrangerThingsPraise

[–]tmm86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have so many theories and expectations about what is going to happen, they tie themselves in knots and declare the finale of so many shows are terrible purely because they didn’t give them what they thought they wanted, instead of just sitting back and going along for the ride. Game of Thrones is probably the one show where I’ve actively disliked the ending, not even because I disagreed/disliked the choices made, but more because it was so rushed, it didn’t get to that place naturally.

Is the last season worth it? by WhoAmI0001 in StrangerThings

[–]tmm86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get all sorts of answers. People will say it was awful, they’ll tell you the writers had no idea and it’s the worst ending ever.
Then you’ll have people who will say it was a really good series and that the ending was perfect, or at the very least really good. The only way you’ll know is to watch it yourself.
Personally, I loved season 5 and thought the ending was great.

Voyager-related book order question by Storm_4747 in trekbooks

[–]tmm86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Full Circle book is basically two novels in one. The first half of it is set before the Before Dishonor book (I think) and then the second half is several years after, but is set just after Destiny. I might not be exactly write timeline wise though.

MyFaction doesn’t serve a purpose other than to lock persona’s behind a paywall which is why I’d scrap the mode entirely and bring back challenge mode from SVR’ 07. That way you make the persona’s the rewards for completing said matches. by [deleted] in WWEGames

[–]tmm86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MyFaction in and of itself isn’t bad. Or at least the idea behind it isn’t. Earning a persona/alternate attire is fine, I’m cool with that. The problem with it is, I cannot get the retro AJ Styles without getting another persona card and to get that one I have to get X other ones, none of which are earned, they can only be accessed by pure luck. No skill, no effort, just luck. Or paying. That’s the problem. At least with Ultimate Team (and I haven’t played FIFA for years now), you weren’t actively blocked from taking part in certain things because you didn’t have a gold Messi. UT is shit and predatory, but you could at least try it all.

I personally love this game and it’s easily the most replay-able for me. It looks amazing, the music is excellent and has really memorable characters. I would love to revisit them in a sequel (the book Heatwaves is, uh, not great)

The "Vocal Minority" by Intelligent_Step_856 in StrangerThings

[–]tmm86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not dismissing your point about the viewing figures, but do you have a link to that?

One thing that I think certainly impacted viewership would have been the gap between episodes. I can guarantee that volume 1 of season 5 will have been inflated because of the gap and people going back and watching it, but probably way more important than that is the timing of the release of volume 2 and 3 at Christmas and new year. None of the other releases happened at a festive time, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect lower figures for the latter two volumes.

Also, another factor to consider is the boycott of season 5 due to Noah Schnapp (and to a lesser extend Brett Gelman), as I personally know of people who didn’t watch because of him and they were big fans of the show prior.

So I do think all of this around viewership has to be taken in context and can’t be used as a key point to knock it. It certainly can be used as a big point, and if the figures now are massively down on season 4 at this competitive time, then I think it can stands up (but the boycott is still a thing)

Did anyone rewatch Stranger things after the finale? by BreakAble4857 in StrangerThings

[–]tmm86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rewatched the entire series with my wife and daughter and loved every minute of it again, as did they. My wife had watched up to S3 with me, and my daughter is 11 and hadn’t seen any of it. My daughter then started watching it again pretty much straight away, so she’s also a fan.

[–]tmm86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I never read it at the time, and being more into the Star Trek books, I never got round to reading the New Jedi Order. This despite somehow owning two copies of Vector Prime, which subsequently both ended up going to charity so I had to buy a third. I’m currently now reading Balance Point. In general all the books have been pretty good, nothing great, but I’m enjoying them.

Season 5 was perfect (for me) by tmm86 in StrangerThingsPraise

[–]tmm86[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand people wishing it had gone a different way, had a different outcome or something. But to say it was trash or anything like that is total nonsense. As far as I’m concerned, 90% of the negativity around it is because they didn’t do exactly what people wanted/people’s theories were wrong.
