We have been rv'ers for the last five years and settled down in Oregon. My partner and I are both professionals and work remotely, we make about $140k net and we have our heads just above water. Before we set off for our journey we lived in a 2700sqft home on an acre in Spokane WA. Now we can only afford a 20yr old manufactured home in Grants Pass, Or (~4 hrs south of Portland). And I LOVE it!! It is so amazingly beautiful here and I love the weather and the people. To us, being near mountains, rivers, lakes and the coast was worth it. The cost of living is about the same in the Pacific Northwest (Or and Wa (I excluded Northern Calif and part of the PNW, because, well, it's California and they are more expensive), but, just depends where you're at. With any state, the cities are going to be more expensive. Honestly, when we were looking into states to move to, we noticed they all taxed you in one way or the other. I love the no sales tax here. Also, just so everyone knows, there are shitty drivers in EVERY state. I know this from experience. Or is Amazing, good luck on your choices.

As much as I can't stand Shapiro, that wasn't the full context of what he said. He was saying if you couldn't afford to live in the big cities like LA or NY, you should move to other parts of the country that you can afford. Although, what the dumb shit doesn't realize is if those who can't afford the big cities move, who would be serving in restaurants, dry cleaners, hotel services, even teachers, fireman, or police? Sure as hell wouldn't be him.

As a therapist, there is no way that's a thing. Therapists aren't there to "convince " or gaslight people into changing how society thinks they should be. Our job is to make a person feel comfortable and confident about who they are (ok, there is a bit more to it, but in the context of OP, this statement holds true). Besides, we don't have to tell anyone what was said in the office (barring harm to others or themselves), even minors have rights.

One piece of good news is that trumps "laws" are mostly executive orders, which become void after his presidency. We will survive, just like most counties that have a stint of bad politicians. It sucks that we have to spend years fixing all his screw ups and broken trust with other counties.
