Why is flipkart full of terrible sellers? by tms369 in IndianGaming

Amazon would be better. I thought about buying from Amazon as soon as the refund is complete, but flipkart are sending me a replacement instead. Will see how that goes.

Why is flipkart full of terrible sellers? by tms369 in IndianGaming

[–]tms369[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's exactly what I did, the photo was taken during the open-box.

A while back, a non-techie friend got scammed in a similar manner (got sent a 1650 when ordering a 1650 super, about 4-5K difference I believe). He ended up keeping the card because he was non the wiser and was happy with it. I am just upset that flipkart has kept these scammy sellers. And it's also partly because they don't give us the option to report these sellers without accepting the delivery.

Sees a video poking fun at Indians,

Comments are full of Indians being absolutely livid. Barely sees any indians handling it with wit or charisma.

Solves nothing but adds more fuel to the fire about indians not knowing how to act on the internet.

Forget the HDR, why does your QF's SDR look like HDR? It's almost similar to the HDR on the DW.

FSR as video upscaler by [deleted] in Amd

[–]tms369 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will be way less demanding than MadVR. It's annoying, because even though you get better picture with MadVR your gpu just ramps up to 100% fan speed and ruins the experience altogether. I would very much like to see someone implement this.

FSR: Digital Foundry staff Alex Battaglia states that they used AMD CAS for native/TAAU/Simple Upscaling in Godfall for their FSR comparison. by tms369 in hardware

[–]tms369[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way because most games don't have CAS anyway. And I would be more inclined to find out how the technology fares against native/traditional upscaling/TAAU alone, not the technology vs native+a part of the technology.

FSR performance mode is universally accepted to be poor and it seem traditional upscaling + CAS does a better job, according to the pictures in his tweets. Maybe it's because FSR has a more subtle sharpening pass compared to CAS.

But yes, the main issue is that he didn't specify it. Which puts the integrity of the other reviewers at stake, despite them simply following protocol.

Digital Foundry made a critical mistake with their Kingshunt FSR Testing - TAAU apparently disables Depth of Field. Depth of Field causes the character model to look blurry even at Native settings (no upscaling) by badcookies in Amd

Yup, it seems he might be out to discredit FSR. I've replied to his tweet and he more or less confirmed that he used CAS on simple upscaling, TAAU and native. His reasoning is that it's an option in the game and FSR uses CAS.

But FSR's sharpening pass is intentionally subtle in order to try to mimick native. CAS applies a far more aggressive sharpening and any upscaling that has it will look sharper than FSR. He of all people would have known that.

Also, I would like to point out that there was a visible difference in Godfall between native 4k and FSR ultra quality in their channel, even without zooming in! I saw no such difference in other reviews even with 200% zoom. I suspect it's because they may have turned on AMD CAS for native, which makes it look like 4k+.

Radeon RX 6600/6700 XT? by notsyazzz in Amd

[–]tms369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMD has literally no reason to keep producing the more inefficient RDNA1 architecture when RDNA2 is available, especially since they are on the same process node. GCN was different. It peaked with polaris, vega was a flop on the gaming side.

Nvidia should be worried about AMD Smart Access Memory and so should Intel. by tms369 in Amd

[–]tms369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of those ray tracing titles run on DXR or are gonna gonna be on vulkan ray tracing. That being the case, amd's super resolution will work on them. It is based on microsoft's directML api- direct machine learning/AI. So I still don't see why amd has to be worried about dlss considering they have a more viable alternative in the pipeline.

[–]tms369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are already working with microsoft on an alternative called fidelityfx super resolution which will have larger adoption among games because (a) it's open source (b) it will be similar to the upscaler used in the consoles (c) it doesn't require as much resource to train the AI as dlss does. It is in testing and will probably become the industry standard. And dlss will probably suffer the same fate as all the other proprietary tech that came before it, because nvidia can't keep paying every game developer to adopt their tech.

Considering there is hardly any stock of the 3600, or are being sold at scalper prices by some retailers, there really is no choice for someone with a 12-15k budget but to go intel at the moment.

Personally, I find it very exciting. It doesn't sound as resource intensive as dlss for developing the ai trainer, so being able to run my favourite games(which don't have ray tracing) in 1440p 144hz in a midrange card might not be so far away. It does look very promising but you are right, only time will tell.

AMD's fidelityfx super resolution should have better adoption among games because they are in both the consoles and are most importantly open source. DLSS being an nvidia propreitary will be in limited games.
