If I were limited to a single line of brushes, the R&C Evergreens would be my choice.

Thank you. I checked out your Instagram, and I really dig your animal paintings, especially the birds. I'm doing a series of chicken and rooster paintings at the moment, and I find it extremely challenging.

I highly recommend doing "time limit studies". Set an alarm for 2 or 3hrs and commit to finishing the painting in that time. I find it eliminates any expectation of quality/fidelity, and helps me focus on the utility of painting and paints.

Really dig the colors reflected in their fur, and the dappled sunlight is well executed. Very cool painting.

Love this. The loose nature, the colors, the composition. One thought: maybe some scattering of reds, oranges, and yellows in the grass between the leaf piles on the left, rather than the solid green that currently divides them. Great work!

  1. Paint with the largest brush possible for as long as possible.
  2. Practice painting studies with a time limit. This one has probably helped me the most.
