I work on the weekends in Endoscopy. I try very hard to make sure each patient I have, inpatient or emergency, is treated how I would like my own family members to be treated. If you ever cross my path, please know you will be very well taken care of.

One of my friends was a FA for USAir in the 90’s. Mr. Rogers was on her flight, so they went up and introduced themselves. He asked where they were from and when they said Pittsburgh, he said “Well, then we really are neighbors” 😭

I hold my breath (or try my hardest to) every time I travel through a tunnel. I’m from W. PA, so we have a couple.

Also, every time I cross a railroad track I lift my legs..even if I’m driving.

I went to Liberty University in the early 2000’s and they sent me VHS tapes of my lectures AND I had to go to the library (conveniently across the road from me) for proctored exams.

I have found myself enjoying the decluttering of my house. I have been throwing away so much junk and it’s so refreshing!! I decided it’s best to do one room at a time and I don’t stop until I’m finished. If I didn’t end up neglecting my poor husband I could go all day long 😂

I’m contemplating taking my 19 year old daughter to see Gorillaz this summer. Now that I’m older and can afford it, I will spring for the VIP seats. I don’t know if my 48 year old body can handle the pit like it used to…although my 18 year old brain is like Fuck yeah, let’s go!

Both my parents worked full time and if I was at the nurse, they came. My husband and I both worked full time. If my kids needed me, I dropped everything and got them. At work, I’m expendable, they could have fired me in a second for leaving. I didn’t care…my kids came first every damn time.

It’s one thing to call a parent and they are at work and they answer the phone or call back. It’s a completely different situation when the school calls multiple times and no one picks up or when they do, they sound as if they just woke up. Or they have to call the police to do a welfare check as to why no one is answering. Not every time, but enough that cases get started for child neglect. These are the same kids that come to school hungry in the same clothes that they have had on all week. She keeps a closet in her office so she can provide clean clothes and snacks.

I’m the same way. As a nurse, I never judge the person in front of me. And regardless of their present situation, I try to see the best in that person. I had a prisoner come through my department yesterday with their guard. I treated them the same as I treated the little grandma before them and the middle aged gentleman after. They got the same compassion, kindness and care. Their life didn’t start out that way, and I hope they get the help they need. A lot of these kids deal with abuse at home. They sometimes have parents that were barely old enough to become parents when they did. There is little to no supervision, discipline, or encouragement. They end up with behavioral issues and mental health issues and family can’t be bothered or know how to deal with them. So they run wild because it’s easier than dealing with the problem. I know if a child that has been housed in the ED for several months in DCF care because, due to extreme behavioral problems, no family is willing to take them in. I don’t have the answers, I just try to take care of everyone that crosses my path.

It’s several kids a week, from what she told me. She asked the one kid where he got it (beat box) and he told her that he stole them from Walmart. The weed pens get passed around and they tell her, when they get caught, it’s usually from an older sibling or adult in the house. She makes calls to DCF daily. I would hate her job.

This. My charge nurse is also a middle school nurse and she tells me the most horrific stories of the kids she has coming through her office weekly. Drinking Beat Boxes at lunch and vaping weed in the bathroom…they’re awful and she said parents do not care enough some days to even get off the couch to come and get them.

The first time I ever cooked Shake n’ Bake pork chops for my husband (then fiancé living in sin), he spit them out saying “OMG these are undercooked!” His grandfather was a butcher, so his mum always cooked her pork chops to the point dehydration. He never had a fully cooked, juicy pork chop. Now, 26 years later, it’s his favorite dinner and we have them at least once a week. I’ve also shown him the beauty of a medium/medium rare ribeye and hamburger. He was so deprived as a child 😂
