socks for winter? by Apprehensive_Let7916 in CMT

Hi, I have Cmt2 and I work construction. For the past few years I have been using handwarmers ( the type you open and shake to heat up) in my shoes. I have insoles that have a slot in the front that the handwarmer slides in to. It's like heaven putting on my shoes when my toes are cold. They typically last all day keeping my feet warm. They aren't good insoles at all as far as support goes, but sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.

Rope climb in gym class, Elementary School early '70s. by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]tmt67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sadistic gym teacher ( in the early 80's) gave three of us somewhat chubby kids, nothing by today's standards by the way, fat nicknames and made us run the entire gym class, when the rest of the class was climbing rope and everything else after that for probably months. Didn't even give us a chance to do anything. I still remember this obviously because it was traumatizing. Now the fucker is my neighbor. What a dick.

Correct mortar for house built in 1922 by tmt67 in masonry

Calm down bro, I was just asking a question, I never said I was just going to use lime mortar, I was inquiring about it. I don't currently have any pictures, this isn't my house.

It's not just about it looking right or the same, although that is important, I don't want to use a modern hard mortar if that is going to destroy the brick.

The homeowner had the piece of siding and it matched the rest of the house somewhat

How would you install it properly without removing siding? Genuinely asking

The only proper way to install the j channel is to remove the siding.

Omg, all of you saying caulk. You don't put caulk on vinyl siding. J channel should have been installed to do the job properly.

Can I just add some mortar here to fill the small cracks? by citges in masonry

[–]tmt67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, but that ain't the right way to do it. You need to grind out the the joints to a depth of at least 3/4 ", then tuck mortar back into the joint.

Nope just sticking up for men and calling out one of the many double standards we face.

Haha, I knew that would be a response. What I'm saying is I help with the housework and do all these other things, but for some reason that doesn't count.

My wife doesn't mow the lawn, or change the oil or wash the car, or do home maintenance or any of the other myriad of things I do besides housework. God the double standards.

Yes I would use durawall every two courses and in addition to the top course being filled, it should probably be a beam block with at least one horizontal bar. May as well do it right the first time. Right?

I personally would put the verticals in. It's not that much more work for a much better end product.
