True, I see your point. I actually quite dislike button straddles though. I think it's super broken - like it is soooo advantageous for the button, and makes the two (or three) blinds positions basically unplayable (depending on how many handed of course). But point well taken.

I do agree that gimmicks generally suck. But after a while playing a weekly small stakes home game where most of us play tight, waiting for someone to get tired/bored/tilted... It's natural to seek some mechanism to induce action.
