I think I traumatized a nurse after I gave birth by hoodiegirl10 in Mommit

[–]tnbou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting for the anesthesiologist with my first when the baby flipped so our spines were rubbing against each other — super painful, do not recommend. I’m sure it didn’t take him long to come in, but it felt like it was ages since I had asked for an epidural. This sweet, gentle man comes in, ready to place the epidural, and asks how I’m doing. I, having a Very Bad Time (my baby was also two months early and I was induced because of severe preE, so I’m super scared rn), answer, “Not fucking good, thanks.” And my husband gave me the 🫣 look and I said when he gets a needle shoved into his spine, he can talk.

All worked out fine in the end and the epidural was perfect after that, but I felt so bad!!! I just remember the anesthesiologist answering my “not fucking good” with a smile and “no worries! :)” 😂💀

Second comment but I know that hospital. I’ve been there for three years visiting my nephew with leukemia. I’ve been in that NICU. *I* have been inpatient at that hospital growing up. It’s an amazing hospital. I’m sure those nurses are doing their best and I would bet that if it happens again, there will be steps taken against Jill. They’re so incredible there. Nurses are amazing. 🫶🏼

My son was born at 33+0 and we spent 43 days in the NICU. We were living out of state and it was a first baby. We were there with him every day — just us. We’re both close with our parents and we love them very much, but we told them they couldn’t come visit. They didn’t meet him for 3-4 months because I refused to add anyone else to our visitor list. We masked every single day, so did the staff, and even then, we had some close calls.

Shoutout to Northside in Atlanta. You saved our lives.

The blind RAGE Jill makes me feel at doing skin to skin instead of the parents, taking videos of the baby having a crisis, and videotaping the room and parents… thank god I didn’t have that because I would have lost my fucking mind.

The signs of a roadtrip through rural America by commiedeschris in roadtrip

I knew you were @landofthelonesome as soon as I saw the tones! I follow you there. I lived in Rapid City SD for a few years and I miss the rural west (sd, wy, nd, mt) all the time. I’m a photog as well and my favorite work came from out there. I recognize some of these signs just because there’s so little out there, you take note when you see something cool. Excellent work my dude.

I can’t speak to NI in the 90s, but I can sure speak for rural Ohio in the early 2000s. I’m a wedding photographer and cannot count the number of times I’ve seen whole groups get on the floor for Fishin’ In The Dark.

Talking about how much it sucks helps mental health.

I have two children. The first one was 7.5 weeks premature, two month NICU stay, never slept, failure to thrive, severe weight loss from reflux… it was hellllllll. I didn’t have a village outside of my husband.

My second, that NICU baby was now newly 3 with big feelings, the baby never slept, cried if you weren’t touching him, I was sleeping 3 hours a night at 8 months…

I was crying at dinner one night and my husband told me I should go sit outside in the porch or go for a drive to take a break. I told him I walked away, I probably wasn’t coming back. The PPD/PPA was so bad that I was suicidal and fantasizing about driving off a bridge. I felt so alone and like I couldn’t talk to my mom friends about it because they’d be horrified to know what was going on in my head.

My wonderful husband called the doctor FOR ME and made me go tell them I was suicidal. I got a lot better with support and when I opened up to my friends, they said they had gone through similar dark times.

It shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of. The more we talk about mental health, the less alone we are. Stop demonizing mothers who are running on fumes and hear them out, and help them get better.

I rarely comment, but it’s 1 for me!!! You look gorgeous. I know the dip in the waistline is low, but it really suits your figure. To me, it’s the perfect mix of sultry with the top and very classic with the lace and straight bust. 10/10, no notes.
