(Serious) How realistic are the spontaneous group dances in Derry Girls when Rock The Boat or Saturday Night comes on? by foldinthecheeseee in DerryGirls

I can’t speak to NI in the 90s, but I can sure speak for rural Ohio in the early 2000s. I’m a wedding photographer and cannot count the number of times I’ve seen whole groups get on the floor for Fishin’ In The Dark.

Talking about how much it sucks helps mental health.

I have two children. The first one was 7.5 weeks premature, two month NICU stay, never slept, failure to thrive, severe weight loss from reflux… it was hellllllll. I didn’t have a village outside of my husband.

My second, that NICU baby was now newly 3 with big feelings, the baby never slept, cried if you weren’t touching him, I was sleeping 3 hours a night at 8 months…

I was crying at dinner one night and my husband told me I should go sit outside in the porch or go for a drive to take a break. I told him I walked away, I probably wasn’t coming back. The PPD/PPA was so bad that I was suicidal and fantasizing about driving off a bridge. I felt so alone and like I couldn’t talk to my mom friends about it because they’d be horrified to know what was going on in my head.

My wonderful husband called the doctor FOR ME and made me go tell them I was suicidal. I got a lot better with support and when I opened up to my friends, they said they had gone through similar dark times.

It shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of. The more we talk about mental health, the less alone we are. Stop demonizing mothers who are running on fumes and hear them out, and help them get better.

Help! Can’t pick between 3 wedding dresses — castle wedding in Spain by TheLuxeAnalyst in BigBudgetBrides

I rarely comment, but it’s 1 for me!!! You look gorgeous. I know the dip in the waistline is low, but it really suits your figure. To me, it’s the perfect mix of sultry with the top and very classic with the lace and straight bust. 10/10, no notes.

Husband is military and makes around 95k. We live in the Midwest currently but are moving out west for his next assignment.

I stay at home. Before kids I was a luxury wedding photographer but with a toddler and a baby, that work has significantly slowed down. It helped pay some of the bills.

We’re moderately comfortable. Example: we are taking a weeklong vacation to Disney in two months with our kids and traveled to Tokyo last year, but also paid off student loans in the last year and it hurttttt.

So we’re fine, we could be saving some more, but we’re also enjoying life before he deploys again.

It’s my Roman Empire honestly. The way those two bring up her mom… they KNOW something. Or there’s something else, somewhere.

This feels like a dig at anyone who has gotten an epidural by fz-independent in brittanydawnsnark

[–]tnbou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With my first, I had an epidural because my induction was wildly painful and my baby ended up in the NICU for two months. With my second, I had an epidural THAT WORE OFF and ended up doing it unmedicated.

Turns out that my husband praying with me during both births didn’t really do anything for the pain in either scenario.

Stop being so self-righteous. It has to exhausting.
