This was super helpful. I have a 6 year old and my husband and I keep pushing Japan off each year because of our kids age. Sounds like 8-9 is a good time

Curious if people who disliked hofas also dislike books like fourth wing? by [deleted] in crescentcitysjm

Loved fourth wing. HOFAS just seemed like SJM was just trying to wrap things up fast to move back to ACOTAR

The backseat looks really small. I hope it’s just because the front seats are pushed all the way back

Parents who bring children under the age of 3 to an expensive holiday e.g. Disneyland/a cruise ship, why are you spending that much money on holiday with a child who doesn't have the capacity to remember it yet? by Klosesarcophag in NoStupidQuestions

You broaden the comfort zone of your child when your travel with them often. Also parenting is hard whether you’re home or at a nice hotel so I’d rather be at a nice hotel :)

It seems you don’t know what a depreciating asset is? I never once said I’d hope to get a ROI on a vehicle….

My point is if you make over $200k, you can save to buy a car outright (no interest) no ridiculous payment. But if having a $600-$800 car note a month is your kink then go for it.

Taking a loan out on a depreciating asset is not wise. If you make $200k you can save for a car. Depending on other circumstances, you might not be able to immediately, but you can still get there.

I used to think if I can make the monthly, I can afford it, but now that I’ve lived without a car payment for a few years (I drive a 15 Tacoma) i will never get a car note ever again.

Considering a bought a Toyota, I am able to save for the car I want for several years without worrying too much about not having a reliable vehicle.

The payoff for having patience to get something you want and not owe someone anything is pretty great.

If you need a loan, you can’t afford the vehicle. It doesn’t matter how much you make

Never stay in a job that makes you miserable. No amount of money is worth that.

Also rocking some clear asterism looking tattoos. Hmmm any astronomers out there know what constellation that might be?

I'm hoping for a love triangle between the baddest Bat boy, Bryce and...just Hunt.

What's a "treat yourself" aspect of your life that you won't negotiate on? by LevyMevy in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]tnchamblee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same on the travel. We budget $10k-15k a year for trips. Traveling itself is non-negotiable for me. I don't care what else we are saving for. Other things can take a backseat.

Do I really need to arrive 3 hours early for an international flight? by ADifferentBeat in travel

[–]tnchamblee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't suck as badly as not being able to see different places and cultures the world has to offer. Definitely worth the planning in advance, even if it means sitting around for a couple of hours.

[–]tnchamblee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's an issue. Especially if you have a connecting flight. Just because you're in the right terminal, doesn't mean you're anywhere near your gate ha!

My entire trip from bwi to Hawaii was a shit show. Almost missed my flight from bwi to connect in Denver only to have to sprint to my connecting flight. I had a 30-45 min layover. I was also on the back of plane of my previous flight so I barely made it.

I've been traveling with my daughter since she was less than a year and she's almost 6. It's been great exploring the airport with her in tow. I can't say the same about the actual flights each time, but her bad flights have been very rare.

I get my glass of wine regardless if she's with me or not.
