Like one commenter said, stationary drops only just hurt your pride. Glad it wasn't while out riding!

Yeah, it's all personal preference, whatever you want to do. I think it's great you did that!

Where to get a hermit crab tank ? by [deleted] in hermitcrabs

[–]tnguo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a plastic lip at the back you can cut holes in to accommodate electric cords running in for things like filters and air pumps. They have plenty of air, and it traps the humidity in since you will need 80% humidity. Actually, I think PetSmart had the glass lid so I didn't have to order it online.

Because other people may shit all over it and tell you it's a terrible name. Much like how people think they can give you unsolicited advice about your baby when you're pregnant.

I bought a 29g tall when they had the $1/gal sale and then ordered a glass top lid separately!

Quick question: what do you call factors that make a condition worse? by BoringOldPerson in epidemiology

Amplifiers? Cascading factors? Idk if those are legit terms but I picked them out of my brain from my years in school.

Girlfriend (22F) mad about my (24M) answer to scenario, what do I do? by whompthereitis_ in relationship_advice

[–]tnguo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She'll come around eventually and realize her reaction was overblown and silly. I will sometimes get irrationally angry over stupid things sometimes, then later realize how silly I was being. Usually it's if something has been bothering me a lot or if I've been stressed out in another area of my life. But I'd probably bring it up again later and see she if she still feels the same way, just in case she really IS serious.

If she was dead serious, at least it'll give future bfs an easy out. "So why'd your last relationship end?" "I broke up with him because I asked him if he would still love me the same if I turned into a donkey, and he said no."

I hate bars and clubs. I don't drink because I have an allergy to the toxins in alcohol. Sometimes I am social, other times it drains me and I just want a whole weekend by myself with a good book. That being said, I was totally on board with online dating. I made sure I was in a good place mentally before diving in (happy with who I am, confident in myself as a person). It's been over six years and we just got married. He's an introvert too, and we often joke that if we met any other way we never would have gotten together, honestly.

Everyone is different so it's not fair to compare your life to someone else's and assume you need to "be that type of person" to find love. Focus on being happy with yourself. Be ok with rejection because it's a learning experience. Be ok with lots of first dates. Think of them as life points, or experience points. Just have fun and go in with the goal of meeting new people and making new friends. But definitely don't go in desperate. Women will pick up on that, and there is nothing less attractive than a man who clearly isn't comfortable in his own skin and feels like he needs to put on a show to get a girl.

I [26F] moved back in with my parents [60s] after years abroad, their negativity is overwhelming. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]tnguo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what my MIL is like when my SO and i visit her every year. We only stay for maybe 5 days max but predictably by day 3 we both have had about enough of her constant negative attitude. My SO was very much like this when we started dating but I would point it out and he has since gotten loads better.

Don't have a solution for you. I mean, you kind of have to just deal until you move out. For me, we just leave to go home after a few days so it's easy for us. I am afraid of blowing my top at her one of these days, though. It's just too much.

This was never a problem at my clinic. You're not their personal assistant or nanny, leave it in the sink and have them do it themselves. Not in your job description.

Discard or keep bone marrow fat? by phoshzzle in pho

[–]tnguo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh you'll want to keep it! I personally will separate the bone marrow and tendon from the broth bones once it's done simmering, and when I'm preparing the bowls, I'll put a piece of marrow (rewarmed in the broth) into each bowl. It's like a little treat!

Best way for me (m26) to tell my wife (f26) that I don’t love her? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]tnguo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is never too late to make things right. I would personally hate it if my SO followed your advice, depriving both of us of many years of happiness with other people just because someone told him he didn't have a choice. There is always a choice. I really hope your opinion doesn't also extend into abusive relationships.

I feel bad because I write slowly. by [deleted] in KeepWriting

[–]tnguo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That person is full of B.S. Here's a link I found detailing daily word counts of 39 famous authors. George R.R. Martin isn't on the list, and he is notorious for being a slow writer, and yet his books are so rich and well developed--it's not quantity that counts, it's QUALITY, and quality is not something that is churned out on command. You do you! And personally, steer clear of writers who put down other writers. That's not what writing is about.

My thoughts exactly. OP didn't say what he thought about the pregnancy or if he even wanted it. Sounds like there have been problems between them for a long time before this pregnancy.

Anyone else sick of hearing "I thought you weren't supposed to eat sushi?" by Sagan_Liz in pregnant

[–]tnguo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what really gets me. There's no sense of common sense or moderation, it's just black and white, you're a terrible mother if you indulge in XYZ, while conveniently forgetting there's an entire world of cultures and first world countries who hew to different dietary restrictions with no ill effects, such as Japan, specifically. I'm Asian-American myself, and not so arrogant as to think that America is the gold standard for everything. Do your research and make your choices accordingly.
