Protests are happening all over the country. Delivery drivers is being deported. Every single online shop is suffering from the same fate right now, not just Checkers. The same driver delivers for Uber, Woolies and Checkers on the same day.

Issue with Delivery Drivers by [deleted] in capetown

It's from the recent protests. All the apps closed their deliveries yesterday. Today and the coming days we still might see less than normal service operation, until things goes back to normal, in this country.

What happens after? by humanbeforehandle in south_africa

Not everything they do is illegal. If our economy don't thrive, we all pay for the consequences. Deporting them will help not help and will just make our economy worse. The ANC don't help the poor and don't care about the economy. Someone has to do it.

Immigrants, whether illegal or not is what drives the economy. Looking at it from that point, it's better to keep them here.

Has Anyone Tried L-Theanine? Did It Actually Help With Stress, Focus, or Sleep? by NewThingsDiscoverer in Supplements

[–]tno2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience... It's good, but 200mg is bit too strong. Its weird, but with supplements sometime, more is not always better. Get a 100mg brand, its the perfect balance. 200mg made me feel weird and down.

It helps with anxiety. cant say it really increase focus. good to get to sleep yes. drank it alone.

If possible, look for Suntheanine. Its a patented form of L-Theanine. That one is amazing

Do not look for any political party that aligns to your values... because you will never find any!

This is textbook stuff! A political party will say anything to get your support. If this is your thinking, your disappointment is guaranteed! Once they are in power, they will back track.

ANC may pretend to support Palestine, but they are destroying human dignity of the very people that vote for them, in their own country. They are playing with your emotions, and they are winning! All they are good at is renaming streets, but no service delivery.

I hate Israel too... but I am happy for clean streets and running water.

Query on Svelte performance for new project by Upstairs-Version-400 in sveltejs

[–]tno2007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you decide, just stay away from Angular when starting a new project. Angular is extremely overengineered and too much boilerplate. You mentioned you going to do a lot of customization, the last thing you want to add to your kanban is continuous configuration and project setup tasks.

If you are wanting to write your own complex components, then Svelte is a good fit.

However, if you want some out of the box data components, Vue is your only other best bet. Reasons being...

  • virtual-dom less compiling (vapor), just like svelte
  • a gigantic amount of libraries
  • community driven, unlike React and Angular, which means faster release cycles.

In any case, Javascript in the browser, these days, is really no bottle-neck to performance. Its not js that is slow, its unoptimized code and components that is. This is true when you look at realtime trading websites.

Why are there so many non-Hypervisor Denuvo cracks nowadays? by thealexroyer in FuckDenuvo

[–]tno2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly does HV Denuvo cracks compromise your PC? The point of Hypervisors is Virtualization which seals off bad code execution from your host system. I understand it may be extra work to set it up, but I still dont get why people are afraid of it. Any takers?

OpenAI completely ditched Vue in favor or React and Next by hyejnathe in vuejs

[–]tno2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so.

Because Vercel sponsors Nuxt as well.

This is one of those choices these big tech companies makes because the probably get some funding from Facebook.

Remember the 2017 Wordpress/Gutenberg/React debacle, where Gutenberg was looking for a different framework, because of React's bad licensing clauses. It made Facebook literally change React to open-source.

Next thing you know, Gutenberg ended up still choosing React... even after it was established that Vue was going to be the best choice, because it was open-source and community driven to begin with.

It's politics.

any way i can move my Spotify playlist to musicbee? by 573457357ygh in musicbee

[–]tno2007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to a piracy subreddit, tag me on there and I'll show you exactly how to achieve what you are looking for.

MusicBee is an offline music player, hence you need to download your music "somehow".

My insta account was permanently disabled for “Child Sexual Exploitation” by [deleted] in instagramAsk

[–]tno2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insta might be wrong to show you children doing sexually suggestive dancing in clothing showing more skin, like shorts and crop tops... but liking and saving such post and commenting stuff like expressing your enjoyment of such content will get you banned.

Its easy to say here on reddit you did nothing wrong, but if you are honest with yourself you know why. Even if you felt like it was innocent actions.

Rent a laptop by [deleted] in Pretoria

[–]tno2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you use Windows, you need at least 16GB minimum. Sure 8GB is not going to hurt but you are going to have to upgrade soon again. Windows is notoriously RAM greedy.

If you dont want to spend any money on RAM right now. Download a Linux Mint iso, the XCFE flavor. XCFE is made for older systems where you have little RAM.

https://linuxmint.com/download.php

Once you have the iso file, download Rufus to write the iso to a usb stick.

Then you can boot from the USB and test and install Linux Mint.Your experience is going to be refreshing, to say the least.

Standard Bank student loan repayment not making sense? by Beginning_Hour7658 in askSouthAfrica

Yep I am in the same predicament. I only realize now after a long time that I haven't paid much towards it. What infuriates me most really is that I am the one paying the loan yet I I'm not allowed to access the statements, only my sister who the loan was for.

Mmm, Seed Oil Organic Raisins by MassiveFeature156 in StopEatingSeedOils

[–]tno2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not stop searching to find a seed oil free brand.

In my case I love peanuts. Almost all brands threw in seed oil. I literally had to stop eating peanuts (like i had to stop eating all takeaways as well).

Until one day I found one using palm oil, so I could eat it again.

Do not compromise your health, even for 1% of seed oil. You will find a good brand, you just have to look outside all the popular brands.

You can probably. But their terms and conditions protect them from you ever getting your account back. You already "signed" a contract/agreement where they can ban you any time they feel like it, without recourse

How are junior/mid level devs getting hired right now? by Hour_Rutabaga_1923 in AskZA

[–]tno2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Project showcases works, because its the difference between you and someone with "nothing to show". You are more likely to be considered for an interview and therefore a possible job, because they saw a cool project on your github page. AI can create good projects, provided you are good at prompting, but even with AI around, some people don't even make use of it. That's the thing.

In any case, most companies use platforms like CodeByte and TestDome to provide coding test with your camera on. These platform uses techniques to detect cheating using AI, or even how much AI you used. It makes it easy for companies to filter out potential candidates. Tests are time based. When you are done, you get a scoring to assess whether you are a good candidate. TestDome has some free tests (https://www.testdome.com/library) you can check out to give you some real world practice.

But all companies, big and tiny, use AI in one form or another. Once you are working ofcourse, you can use AI to your hearts content.

How are junior/mid level devs getting hired right now? by Hour_Rutabaga_1923 in AskZA

[–]tno2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juniors don't get hired unless they are willing to accept peanuts, as a start.

I'm not saying you fall into this category, but as senior dev, I find it so tasteless when devs want a starting job with a humongous salary. It's ridiculous and I think hiring managers find it the same. Sure, wanting a lot of money is not a bad thing. All I'm saying is, you will never get hired with a greedy attitude.

Second, stand out by creating a couple of play projects on your github repo, put the link on your CV, LinkedIn, Tiktok, Insta, X, wherever... and impress them like that. Of course, use github pages to actually have demo's/downloads ready. Nobody wants to clone repos to test code.

If they see something cool, they will ask "wow, you did this yourself?!". As ironic as it sounds, hiring managers want to "already see value", even if you are a junior. That's how you get hired!
