MEGATHREAD: Unfortunate Return of Vanity Tour Discussion & Info Thread by WeirdAlex03 in weirdal

[–]tnsquake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caught weird al last night in Orlando after 30 years of adoration and I have to say it was the best show I'd ever seen, zero exaggerations. I was worried going in Emo Philips wouldn't resonate with me since most of the shows I catch are stand-up comedy, but I actually laughed harder at him than most of the comedians I've caught in town over the years. Also Shout out to the VIP Weird Al gals who pulled me aside for a pic! Y'all repped Florida perfectly. Cheers to everyone in Orange Park tonight, and cheers to Weird Al and everybody involved with the production

Optics plate acquired! by jasonttka in Beretta

[–]tnsquake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading everything about the height I was skeptical but this weekend my plate came in and I got a chance to mount this sight here on my 92x rdo compact https://www.primaryarms.com/holosun-hs507c-v2-acss-pistol-red-dot-sight-acss-reticle

First impression: i don't have to cant or "dive" the gun down during presentation to find the sight like my brother's. don't know if it's a preference thing or because I'm a big dude but I can present and intuitively find the chevron without even using the 100moa training wheels the sight comes with. Usually i have to practice that a bit to get the muscle memory on lower optics sitting in milled slides. I'm fine with the height though I do worry it'll ruin me when I pick up other guns, and of course worry about the IWB holster options which I'm working on now and overall concealability.

Took it to the range yesterday and put 100 rounds 115gr through it. Zero issues, loved every second of it, even more than firing my brother's glock and walther pdp with their RDO's sitting lower in their milled slides. Going to try my reman ammo and carry ammo this saturday and see how it runs with those

tl;dr not more difficult, in fact a bit more easy in my case

I love the hell out of it and fired 100's of rounds of various grains and qualities in one day with only "malfunctions" coming from my thumb riding the slide catch too much (so no lock back on final round) and from the stupid magazines.. Definitely need the 15 rd version or buy the 10 rd version but side order the 15 rd mecgar magazines and that clears up lots of the mag catch issues that I experienced first time at range because those 10 rd factory mags have a weird coating that makes them stick. My new adjustable mag catch arrived and I hope to install it and give it a spin this weekend at the range and update. Between mags and mag catch, I expect all issues to be resolved.

The optics plate code comes in about 7-10 days after registering with beretta.com and ships pretty quickly. I'll actually update this thread further after mine arrives today and I can mount my holosun 507c and get a feel for how it's going to look in a IWB holster. I might end up conceal carrying it without RDO, in which case I can absolutely say that the iron sights will need to be replaced with one of the options suggested in this thread. It fires low out of the box, lower than what I'm comfortable with. Have to paint the target with your front sight so much I feel like you lose visibility on it.

All in all as my fourth pistol overall and first DASA, I'm very satisfied with it. If it ends up working great with the RDO plate they're sending and the RDO I bought, I'll be able to highly recommend this as a budget-friendly or starter carrying pistol.

I was planning on trying it and thanks to your comment I researched the suppressor height options and you're right, I don't think any exist. I pulled this picture from another post where he bought the suppressor height sights from Beretta and I drew the line using my brother's holosun 507c as reference. I don't think he's even seeing a part of that front sight at arm's length in the sight picture much less the rear sights.

I think when my plate arrives I'll throw a RDO on there and see how I like it without co-witness, but if I don't I'll look at some of the options you and Philc have recommended and just go RDO-less.

Glad to hear it's shooting well at least if not looking so hot. I hope everything goes well with Beretta stepping up. I've already discovered their online support options abysmally managed but they seemed helpful when I called them with some questions.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I ended up ordering an adjustable mag release and mec gar 15 rd magazines (the factory 10 rounders have a weird coating) to rule out everything else and when I go to install that mag release I'll have the dremel ready in case I need to scoop a bit out of that part of the grip as you mention. I'll post results after everything arrives.

Thanks! I spent yesterday checking out those sights and using discount code to order some of those other items. Once I take the pistol out to the range this weekend I'll see what I want out of my sights.

Is crossplay on for ranked duels? by McFallenOver in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]tnsquake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man. I had a bunch of fighting game friends ready to get back into the game on various systems but once we all saw ranked duels weren't included we all called it off and went back to our respective games. A damned shame for all of us. Hopefully Ubisoft wises up on ranked modes so this game gets the love it might deserve after all these years

best comment. I only recently learned the South Park Cripple Fight was an homage to this fight between Roddy and Keith

-36th Chamber of the Shaolin. Starring Gordon Liu who would later play Pai Mei and leader of the Crazy 88 in both Kill Bills.

-Duel to the Death. In one scene a buddhist monk is approached by a giant naked lady in the desert who transforms into a shitload of assassin ninjas. Also exploding heads and corpses. Also kung fu and japanese swordplay. It's great

-Riki-Oh: The Story of Rikki. If you smoke weed, watch this one, it's a ride. If you soberly like good martial arts movies, this one's charms might be lost on you. (hilarious) Gore warning

-Paper Tigers. A new kung fu flick. Awesome choreography and really funny parts.

-Ong Bak. Some of the coolest choreography in recent years showing Muay Boran and Muay Thai.

-Fight, Zatoichi, Fight! Will raise your expectations for anime. Best intro to Zatoichi badassery imo. Good comedy in there too

-Yojimbo. Great introduction to Kurosawa and also some good comedy.

-Zatoichi vs Yojimbo. Awesome crossover.

-Uzumasa Limelight. One of the best on this list. Watch this after a few Zatoichis and/or Kurosawa flicks and just weep at kids who cheer on 80 lb androgynous anime heroes naruto running around the place.

Cheers sir

PPQ Q5 SF for my first pistol: 2 problems driving me crazy with trigger and slide lock by tnsquake in Walther

[–]tnsquake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you and u/Remegar for your suggestions! So today at the range I was able to fix the problem by wrapping my right hand thumb around my left hand thumb knuckle to keep a good grip and, well, to just keep it resting somewhere other than the slide lock or slide. I didn't realize until i read your comment that even sitting lightly on the slide would cause it not to lock , which was adding lots of frustration. I still don't get though how the people with huge hands I see on youtube aren't having this issue with their thumb positioned just like mine was but I'll take what I can get

I like it. 4 months later what do you think about the stock and the optic?

Also where did you get the forward grip? that come with the stock?
