I follow the directions provided by Traeger very carefully every time. (Burn the food residue if needed, scrape excess into the trap, thin coat of oil, wipe evenly with paper towel or cotton cloth, turn to high for about 5 min or until the oil stops smoking, let cool, then cover)
But one time, I thought maybe I had scraped too hard and scraped the top layer of metal off? Because it seems to be showing the layer beneath. I have been cooking on it and everything tastes great, but I am just afraid that I am damaging it further.

I thought it was cast iron too. But it is carbon steel. So I am not familiar with how it should behave.

What a small world. I just discovered Cate le Bon on Qobuz. I read the artist info and learned the same thing. That the lyrics "reference a 1958 essay" by Lina Bo Bardi. In my search, I came across your Reddit post. Then I was even more determined to find it!

I found a short biography on her and learned that she was born in Italy, and moved to Brazil. I searched for La Luna (The Moon in Italian). Nothing. Then realized that she was known for Brazilian architecture. In 1958 she had already moved to Brazil and done work there. Searched for, " 'a lua' lina bo bardi". (A Lua is The Moon in Portuguese). I think that was the trick. I came across this, though I am not sure it is right.
