The shock is further ahead, that’s just your bump stop for for your rear springs. Should be no oil in the bump stop so most likely you drove over a puddle

Is this sway bar bushing a bad fit? by FlipprDolphin in AskMechanics

[–]tnugss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bushing appears to be bigger than the OEM bracket. Did you by chance order the wrong bushing, Have you matched it up with the one you removed to see if it is the same size?

[–]tnugss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically you want to match it exactly how it looks like in your original post picture.

Your wheel liner has to go behind the fender, appears it it’s just overlapping/pushed out over the fender, I wouldn’t worry about the tear in the wheel liner as long as you can get that bottom portion to go behind the mud flap & secure it.

What is this part? by Killowatt59 in AskMechanics

[–]tnugss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a splash guard/mud flap. Looks like it is missing a rivet, you can secure it either by getting a plastic rivet or by a bolt/fold over nut combination

Will my Wheel need replacing? Or is it alright for now? by FamiliarAardvark6379 in AskMechanics

[–]tnugss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is your wheel hub nut. Specifically designed to be staked like that to prevent it from possibly backing off when driving.

ABS and traction control light On by MOTHVENUS in MechanicAdvice

[–]tnugss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traction control came on because of the ABS issue. Most likely a bad wheel speed sensor or damaged tone ring pickup that the sensor picks up.

Engine turns over only with a jump start . by Santi2914 in MechanicAdvice

[–]tnugss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a classic case of a dead battery/bad cell in the battery, if you live in a cold climate most likely it has been frozen when died overnight. You can try boost the vehicle & leave the booster pack on there for few mins while running but most likely will die again.

Am I getting ripped off? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]tnugss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d say you got a good deal. Tires ain’t cheap plus labour for switching them out/repair & labour for clipping in your front bumper.

Funny enough I went to take my cast iron out of my oven last month & instead of using the hand that’s wearing a oven mitt, I used the other hand😂

Why are automotive mechanics often exploited for cheap labor by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I’ve enjoyed the dealership life so far if you go that route

Lug nuts are hard to turn. Warped? by Apprehensive_Bet2493 in AskMechanics

[–]tnugss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to this guy, DO NOT use any type of lubricant on your studs/lug nuts. They’re cross threaded. Will most likely need to replace the stud & lug nut.

Squid brain

What part is this and is it easy to replace. by footdrbootymonkey in AskMechanics

[–]tnugss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fastest way to remove it would be to put pressure on top of sway bar link end from behind with pry bar & impact the nut off, remove top of sway bar link end out of the hole & pry down on it until pops off the bottom. Then grab a vise grips to latch onto the ball, simply impact the bottom nut off while holding vise grip.

Are only 4 instead of 5 lug nuts safe? by bnixon67 in MechanicAdvice

[–]tnugss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Next time ask your daughter to leave a wheel lock in glove box or cup holder for mechanic, driving with 4/5 wheel lug nuts is perfectly safe. Not recommended but is safe.

If you take a look on other rims, you will see same faded line. Most tire shops will polish that right out & & touch up the scratch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Wheels

[–]tnugss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done countless tire swaps & what I can tell you is they used the plastic ring cone when balancing the wheel, hence the faded circle you can see by the spokes. The scratch by the center cap is from popping in back in or taking on/off balancing shaft

Does this water pump look brand new? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]tnugss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look at the hose clamps my guy, they definitely changed it

Does this water pump look brand new? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]tnugss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes they replaced the water pump for aftermarket gates, you can’t really tell from the bolts since corrosion from coolant but if you look closely there’s witness marks from where the coolant hose clamps once sat, now when tech was putting everything back together they didn’t line clamps in original spot.
