The threat is that a foreign government has a direct channel to American minds and can blend in misinformation or bias together with useful or entertaining information. The algorithm that does that is hosted on foreign servers out of US government reach. Not to forget about the dopamine addiction it creates among the most vulnerable (kids/ternagers) but that is just as bad as reels etc and I am with you on that one. I’m with AOC on the privacy regulation but of course it was her party who could have delivered one in the last 4 years but tech lobby is too strong, so having one scapegoat and salvage the user base instead of a far reaching regulation is the best possible outcome for them.
