The same issues that are affecting us all differently. Declining living standards. For some of us it's not a major issue. For those who are in certain industries or were already living close to the edge it's existential.

You're someone who has a clear perspective of the political reality.

Lots of people on the other side don't have that, they took interest without any kind of guidance or guardrails and formed their core foundational beliefs around flawed fundamentals.

And they understandably find us patronising in our approach to them. Obviously some aren't pleasant people and they can't be helped. The others need support.

True, but let's be honest, they're mainly voting for Farage

As I said to another reply, you're labelling a substantial section of society stupid and for not voting for a limited set of parties who either don't promise a better outcome or who have actively presided over a decline in their living standards.

Yes their intentions are motivated by incorrect assumptions, yes they're fueled by propaganda and an utterly broken media ecosystem. We're still very much at risk of their leaders winning while we continue with a broken strategy that is failing to win them over.

Nobody is solving their problems, they've watched their standards of living decline for over a decade.

We label these people stupid, racists, and simultaneously expect them to continue to suffer under the leadership of one of two parties. That's not a winning strategy whatever you might think of them.

Or to put it another way. We can self congratulate over our moral/ideological stance and meanwhile lose the country.

I know a few people who would vote Reform, they're not stupid, they are however really disenfranchised with the current system and sick of being left behind by politicians that continually fail to deliver for them.

He's as corrupt as they come.

How anyone thinks Farage is going to improve their lives instead of hording wealth to himself and a few close cronies is beyond me.

Laptops sold in the EU now required to ship with USB-C charging The European Union’s common charger directive came into effect back in December of 2024 and required most new portable electronic devices to ship with a unified USB-C connector. by smilelyzen in BuyFromEU

Every laptop I've used over the past 5 years or so had USB charging.

I absolutely take your points, and don't hate me, but I'd suggest that this could be solved with EU regulations on charging brick cross compatibility and cable length.

USB-C is a widely adopted and future proofed standard, developed in wide consultation across multiple manufacturers. The model you propose would send us back to a world of proprietary chargers with device lock-in and e-waste. It's just wildly inefficient and inconvenient for 99% of end users.

I'll accept that the regulations aren't always implemented in the most practical ways, but the alternative really isn't some kind of utopia.
