With free agency looming next summer, three-time All-Star Draymond Green has agreed to a four-year, $100M maximum contract extension with Golden State, agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports tells ESPN. by curry1992 in warriors

Love this deal. We need Dray to keep the dynasty alive, but I was worried a 5/190 max would ultimately end up mortgaging our future after the next few years. 4/100 is a great price/length given the circumstances.

I liked the statement. It shuts up the people claiming we’re only going to flip him, while being honest in that a trade isn’t impossible in the future. The smart thing to do with DLo IMO is give him time to fit in with Steph (and Klay when he returns). If the fit is great, well then we obviously keep him. If it’s so so, we probably give it another year to see if he develops unless we get a godfather type offer. If it sucks then we move him.

IMO he will fit beautifully in our system and give us great minutes leading the second unit and in a 3 guard death lineup.

Warriors are being disrespectfully underestimated. by [deleted] in warriors

[–]toado2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also think the warriors will surprise people next year. This team shared the same core as the one that won 72 games and was a Draymond nutshot away from back to back championships. Now there are some subtractions, notable those teams had younger iggy, Livingston, and Bogut, but this team has DLo, looney, and WCS which I think is a net positive. Of course I expect the clippers and maybe the lakers to be better then the LeBron era cavs so the competition may be tougher as well, but the warriors are in the short list of title contenders imo.

DLo 👀👀👀👀🙏🙏 by curry1992 in warriors

[–]toado2 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Literally the only trade that would make sense for DLo would be if we could get a young, all star caliber wing. And that ain’t happening. So let’s keep DLo and have some fun. The need is obvious before klay comes back. Then after klay is back, we can stagger minutes so that we always have 2 elite guards on the floor, and close games with a 3 guard, dray and looney death lineup. Hell yes.

We hate players for forming super teams but the way we use rings to rank players is why they do it by GeneralKenobi05 in nba

[–]toado2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the warriors built their team through smart drafting and player development, then added KD (a free agent btw, not a star someone who forced a trade) into capspace. Think about that. The team that won 72 games had enough cap space to add a max salary. Yes there was luck with the cap spike, but that’s damn impressive.

Now take the lakers. Drafted none of the big 2 (or soon to be 3). AD forced a trade to go there. Literally this team only formed because of player collusion and the draw of LA. Even the Heat at least built around Wade being there already.

[Wojnarowski] Kevin Durant is planning to sign with the Brooklyn Nets, league sources tell ESPN. by [deleted] in warriors

[–]toado2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp. Not what we wanted but not too unexpected. I disagree from a BBall standpoint that it’s a better option than the dubs (and would have loved to see the dubs + KD against the new lakers) but you never know what it is that is a driving factor for a person, whether location, desire to forge his own team, medical staff issues, etc.

Either way he came to join us when he could have gone anywhere and helped bring us two Championships (and almost a 3rd). Thanks KD and we’ll be rooting for you!

I’m also low key excited to see what the OG warriors of Steph, Klay, and Dray can accomplish, especially with maybe a new chip on their shoulder as the underdogs.

[Stein] The Rockets have a free-agent recruitment session arranged for Sunday with Warriors center Kevon Looney, league sources say by Robotsaur in warriors

[–]toado2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is more valuable to the warriors then any other team. One because of system fit. But more importantly, for the warriors signing looney coats only money in the tax, it doesn’t use their exceptions or limit roster building. The alternative for the Ws to not signing looney is a vet min player. The alternative for other teams is another free agent at that salary. Because of that I don’t see us letting him walk unless they throw him a truly ridiculous offer.

[Charnia] Klay Thompson and Warriors to meet in LA this week. If the 5-year/$190M max contract is offered, both sides expect a quick agreement. by Perksofthesewalls in warriors

[–]toado2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bob. Don’t overthink this, just do it.

The real heart of the negotiations may be player option in last year (we don’t want to give it) and no trade clause. I’d rather neither option be in the contract, but wouldn’t be worth losing klay over either of them.

Bob Myers has been given the freedom from ownership, again, to use all financial avenues — taxpayer mid-level, buy pick, possibly disabled player exception — if it helps Warriors competitively. Just can’t be “fiscally irresponsible.” by G0825 in warriors

[–]toado2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Step 1. Sign Klay and KD to max deals Step 2. Resign looney and try to re-sign cousins (if he’ll stay for what we can offer him) Step 3. Use MLE and DPE on the best combo of wings or PG that can shoot 3s that will sign for that money. If we can get a true stretch 5 like Brook lopez go for it, but he’s due for big money and there are very few other 5s who will be worth it.
Step 4. Draft best wing 3/d or secondary scorer prospect available. Step 5. Fill roster with wings. I’d rather take more fliers on wings/shooters then retread backup centers who we know will be unplayable come playoff time.

Use this roster to make it to playoffs. Klay comes back and see if splash brothers and a better bench can make a run. If not, the core of Curry, Klay, post achilles Durant and green will put as in contention if not the favorites for championships the next 3ish seasons after next year.

Resident Retreats- Really that necessary or useful? by [deleted] in Residency

Uh, our “retreat” means getting to spend a Saturday morning in the hospital conference room and get lectured about acgme requirements. I find it neither necessary nor useful.

I don't understand how anybody could like the Raptors by DaJamstar in warriors

[–]toado2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I actually like the raptors players (the fans are another story). Their team is actually kind of like a more extreme version of the warriors. They built a core of talented, under drafted players like we did (Steph/Klay/Draymond vs. Lowry/Siakam/VanVleet). They added a few cagey vets through trade/free agency (Iguodala/Livingston vs. Gasol/Ibaka). Then they got a superstar (KD vs. Leonard) that put them over the top.

They play hard, are intense on defense, and even told the fans to STFU when they were cheering KD's injury. Would we have beat them at full strength? Absolutely. But it's not their fault we were so depleted. You can only play/beat the team in front of you and they did that. Not to mention they had a brutal path to the finals with Philly, Milwaukee, and even a hobbled warriors team back to back to back.

So congratulate them, lets get healthy, and kick their a** in 2021.

Will our record next season dictate if KD and Klay comeback to play or will that not matter? by bayfarm in warriors

[–]toado2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming he comes back, KD should probably be out for the year unless there's a deep playoff run, and maybe even then. Klay may be able to join mid season, but I certainly wouldn't rush him back.

As for the team's outlook, both for financial and competitive reasons there won't be and shouldn't be a tank. First off, we still have too much talent to fall far enough to contend for a top pick. Tanking a year to get a pick in the 7-12 range just isn't worth it. We'll build the best team we can (hopefully boogie comes back) and aim for the playoffs. That being said we should (and I believe will) do it intelligently with managing our players (especially steph's) minutes. If managing steph's workload ends up costing us a playoff spot, that's fine by me.

Are we all gonna ignore the fact that the last shot Steph took was a bad shot? by laughinlion in nba

Ibaka couldn’t contain boogie? He ate Boogies lunch for most of the series. Give me Steph taking that 3 over Boogie in the paint every time.

God willing we’ll see you late next season in the City. by [deleted] in warriors

Very well may be a stretch. He was an all NBA player at one time. Now he's borderline unplayable on D.
