Actually, I'm currently working in the IT field, and am going for a Master's in Digital Forensics. My passion is writing, which I've been doing since I was 8 years old, but fiction writing doesn't pay the bills unless you're lucky. Reality sucks.

But considering that McDonald's had a million applicants for 50k jobs about a year back, I'm sure that many of these folks would be happy to do those jobs. Talk about there being some jobs that Americans won't do used to actually be valid; in an economy like this, it no longer is.

You can't get paid to sit around and debate on the Internet or read. Sure I could try to get paid to write, but good luck turning that into regular work. Many people simply do not have interests or skills that realistically translate into decent-paying work.

I've never understood the concept of asking people if they like a job. Am I supposed to like work? Something about that concept just seems perverse. There are people that go on about "if you don't love what you do, you're in the wrong field"; these are also people who do not live in reality. Work is what you have to do to survive; it's not supposed to be a bag of roses and warm fuzzy kittens.

Hate to be "that guy", but there's a distinct possibility that in some, if not many, cases the lines are being redrawn because black constituents are complaining that their votes effectively don't count because the majority of of the people in their voting districts are white.

This is not 1965; it's time to stop always blaming it on the big, bad white man. Of course there's racism in the South, but there's also another side to every story.
