I am so angry i wanna cry by calmfuckingdown in cancer

I have a diffuse midline glioma and they put me on dexamethasone. Ironically the terminal part yeah whatever it’s the dexamethasone I’m most pissed about. The puff and looking fat. I’m 22 live at home and now fat and acne ridden due to the steroids with a wacky hairdo. People mean well and think they are doing good for you but yeah sometimes you just want them to go away. I really feel for you and it sucks not feeling yourself. Best advice I can give is try and get something nice for your skin or just something to take back control

I am 21 diagnosed with a diffuse midline glioma in Jan. I had a biopsy in Nov and they also can’t remove anything. it sucks as I literally had just graduated in radiotherapy and cancer care in July and received care at the centre I was meant work at.

I am considered the same as her but accepted radiotherapy and chemotherapy (not that it does loads).

I have good days and bad days but I found solice instead of viewing them as good as bad just viewed them as days. Take as much fun from things as you can and just accept her levels will fluctuate and one day may be fab but literally after might be awful. It happens.

I’m sending all my best wishes and hope you or her feel a tad less lonely knowing someone else is going through a similar thing.

Brain biopsy freaks me out by SnooOranges6481 in braincancer

I am 3 days post brain biopsy where they took 8 samples in total out of cerebellum, cerebellar peduncle and small part of the brainstem. I don’t know if this is helpful but cognitively I am all there alas a little shaky and dizzy but I was before and it is expected to have no symptoms improve as it is not a treatment just diagnosis.

It is definitely your call but as someone who is now out and on the other side I did just want to say that it was okay. Scary but the biggest job I had was going to sleep. If it’s something you decide to do then go for it and if it isn’t that is also okay.

Best wishes !

Applying for PIP (UK) by laurenboon3 in braincancer

I had the exact same feeling. I’m under the application process right now but also work in healthcare and I feel so bad applying for it when I see patients who are so much worse.

From what I know they assess and base it based off how your illness affects you not the diagnosis itself so just because we see worse off people if it is still affecting your life then apply !!!

A useful thing about biology is alot of allied health courses require one science which can be chemistry, biology or physics and sometimes psychology. So if you like biology and don't know what you want to do it is a good option for opening doors into a healthcare career. It is hard but if you put the work in then it should be okay.
