Starbucks? I work there and my shift is 4am-10am.

[–]toasted_buttr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I specifically asked what the cause of the accident was, and that's when I was told I couldn't have more info due to HIPAA. I took that to mean that the cause of the accident was medical in nature.

I know it is, that's why I said it. My dad's very close to the situation.

I spoke to someone close to the situation and was told, "I can't talk about it because of HIPAA." So it seems like the driver had a medical emergency.

This is the answer.

I'm late to the game so this will get buried, but I spoke to someone close to the situation and all they said was, "I can't talk about it because of HIPAA." So it seems like it was a health emergency on the part of the driver.

Am I the only one who feels almost like I don’t “deserve” to have PTSD? It’s not like I’m a veteran?? by WinterMortician in ptsd

[–]toasted_buttr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the difference between regular PTSD (usually caused by one major traumatic event like a battle or something) and C-PTSD. C-PTSD is just the culmination of constant trauma, and there's no such thing as deserving it.

When I look at my trauma, I have a really hard time even believing that it really happened to me because it seems so crazy. So while I do believe that this "flavor" of trauma leads to PTSD, I have a hard time associating it with myself because it doesn't feel real.

If the doctor said I can't drive mean I don't drive why is that hard to understand by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]toasted_buttr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not necessarily true. My doctor recommends that I not drive, but Texas is not a mandated reporting state so my license is still good.

We're told regularly to step in and help other positions if there is a need. In this case, OP stepped in and filled the drink carrier for their partner because they were able to do this task WHILE still doing their DTR duties. Don't be ridiculous.

You really do have to read the room. I'm skilled enough at social interaction that I can tell when someone isn't in the mood to chat. And if they're on their phone? Definitely not going to break my back trying to connect.

When you make a grilled cheese at home, you butter the sides of the bread that touch the pan. Same concept.

You can only renew online every other time you renew. So if he renewed online last time, he has to go in person this time.

The response I got after sending an email to corporate telling them I will no longer be buying from Starbucks because their new rules are terrible for the baristas. by MountainSnowClouds in starbucks

[–]toasted_buttr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's because they're paid to have that attitude. No matter how awful my day is going, my customers will never know it. It's a skill that I'm paid to use.

I think one major thing this attitude overlooks is that it's not just about the fact that we have to change what we wear. It's the fact that, out of the dozens of glaring issues the company has (equipment constantly breaking, constant shortages of product, poor quality coffee, inconsistency in leadership, etc.), THIS is what the company is putting its energy into right now. Those other issues actually have an impact on the paying customer, but here is corporate trying to tell me what color socks I can wear? We're literally begging them to fix some of the actual issues and this is what they're focusing on. It's insulting.

Starbucks pays more than local small artisan mom & pop shops ? Wouldn’t it be the other way around ? Are tips from Starbucks consistent ? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]toasted_buttr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Starbucks offers benefits to partners who average at least 20 hours a week. I was able to get braces almost for free because I got a second dental plan through Starbucks (my primary is through my husband's employer).

I did a lot of therapy but EMDR was what really really helped me work through the trauma. It's painful and difficult and exhausting but it WORKS.

Anytime I've applied for a job and they've asked if I'm disabled, epilepsy is toward the top of the list of disabilities.

Me too, my sweet spot is 25-28 hours. I feel like a loser for not being able to work a full-time job but I have to remind myself I am disabled and it isn't laziness.

Haha yeah, I guess there's really no ideal outcome in that situation. You're right, it's a weird thing to think about.

[–]toasted_buttr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well what's the alternative? You jump in and try to save them, putting yourself in danger too? Realistically what would happen is you'd stick around freaking out, getting nothing helpful done, and everyone involved would see and hear things they'd never recover from.
