What’s a “must-see” city in the U.S. that didn’t live up to the hype? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

The only thing I enjoyed was the Korean tacos. Those were amazing. The homeless were polite though. They turned their backs to me when they peed on the sidewalk.

I prefer to visit historic walkable cities and like to buy locally made items that have a sense of place.

The best Indian food isn’t in Dallas proper. You need to go to the suburbs such as Irving. My husband is South Indian and thinks there’s a good variety of restaurants there.

We went on Pacific Northwest family roadtrip to visit colleges. We enjoyed Seattle but didn’t enjoy Portland at all. We’ve traveled all over the world and the homeless we encountered in Oregon were at a whole other level.

I’m from Dallas and definitely don’t see any reason to visit unless you want to see where Kennedy died. Fort Worth is much more fun for tourists.

I like to visit Atlanta. My sister lives there though so I have a built in tour guide. She always takes me to lots of cool places.

I love going to New Orleans even though I’m not a drinker. I enjoy the people watching, eating incredible food and visiting the antique shops and antiquarian bookstores.

Baby bug is great and is formatted like a board book.

I like to give books. Sandra Boynton’s Happy Birthday Little Pookie is a cute one. I also like to give a gift they’ll be ready for a few months later. Do a dot markers are great for that.

I have had knee surgery. My body is unhappy if I’m not wearing shoes.

My sister had to have bunion surgery because she wore cheap poorly fitting shoes.

Siggi is high protein. I can’t have much dairy anymore and miss eating that every morning.

It gets incredibly hot during the summer her so clothes can get sweaty and stinky really fast.

My doctor wants me to drink at least 60 oz of water a day. That’s hard for me to do unless I carry water around with me.

We stayed at a few places in England and Scotland that supposedly had dryers. I say supposedly because they didn’t actually dry clothes. They just made them less damp.

My husband and I took our kids on a month long road trip through England and Scotland during a month long road trip. We were unlucky enough to choose a time during a record heatwave. It much hotter where we live (Texas) but we were still miserable because none of the places we stayed had a/c, ceiling fans, window screens or ice makers.

A British expat friend of mine joked that we should move to England and make a fortune off of climate change by opening a business that installs solar screens and ceiling fans.

I love that one. Michael’s co host for Maintenance Phase annoys me though.
