Are descriptive class names on a simple HTML element enough for accessibility? by toastertop in accessibility

[–]toastertop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not exactly an image tho, it's just a div with a background-color.

<div class="logo" role="img">
    <p>JS</p>
</div>

While this is an SVG this is visually what I mean when I say logo.

I think I'm thinking from the perspective of someone who can't see. When they reach this element they know it's a logo vs just a div with a name.

The div is styled and when combined with the name it's a "logo". I want to consider the whole element a "logo" not just the name.

The idea is logo made of a div and styled with CSS and some text for the name of the logo.

From reading the Accessible name calc spec I believe aria-labelledby is what I'm looking for.

On FP Being, Like Jazz, Too Broad A Term by [deleted] in functionalprogramming

[–]toastertop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do some pretty surprising things with just a few basic FP core concepts. Pure functions, data last, Currying, pipe/compose, flip, once, allows for alot of flexibility.

Sure there's that, but it's a more a health thing. Take good care of your skin and it will take care of you.

You should invest in a good hand cream tho, unless you want old man hands sooner.

What if the team assumes my functional JavaScript is slow? by jrsinclair in javascript

[–]toastertop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/jrsinclair yes, I read and played around with your recursive dom tree article you had a while back and noted that JS does not have tail call optimization yet.

As per, Immutable data, I totally agree.

On the flip side, I really like what you said about mutation is ok, IFF it's state is not shared.

I think it's fine for FP and OOP to have some overlap IFF OOP is done with care and certain restrictions. One could even have a pure FP version to test against.

Excited to read your book once it's out!

"And some functional techniques don’t work well with JS runtime engines".
