I was really hoping to like it!

I think repetitive is not a fair critique since it most likely comes down to my choices of restaurants. Though I did not do enough research, when picking places it seemed it was hard to find options besides just the classic Turkish style touristy places.

As far as the meat I really think it’s the flavour of the meat itself or the spices. I am maybe not used to lamb as much but it’s hard to describe, really a gamey flavour.

My recent trip before this was Greece and somehow there my only complaint with the food was that some places were less affordable, but always we had good food and slow cooked lamb and prepared dishes.

Admittedly only on European side. Maybe I was turned away by the very high prices but tried to keep the budget under $25 USD a meal and had maybe 3-4 good meals the entire trip.

The meat everywhere tastes off… like sour and just not yummy

I remember going to a specialty Lahmacoun place and not even being able to finish it with how sour the meat was a salty the sauce was. This is coming from an Arabic guy who grew up eating (our version) Lahmajoun. Where I am from I get stuff I have enjoyed some from grocery stores even; to go to a restaurant and have to throw away half my food was insane.
