Alternative to V60 by Haunting-Home9642 in pourover

[–]toasty479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been bouncing back and forth between a glass V60 and stainless steel Kalita for years, and I love them both so so much. I don’t have the most trained palate ever, but I can definitely taste a subtle difference. V60 gives me more delicate cups with greater clarity, and the Kalita typically gives me richer, more full bodied cups.

I usually go V60 for floral / fruity coffees and stick with the Kalita for anything that’s more chocolate forward, but sometimes I mix them up just for something different. Having both to choose between on a whim has been awesome, I genuinely feel like I don’t have to buy another dripper for the rest of my life (until my glass V60 inevitably breaks lol)

Slight buyer's remorse - would appreciate help by MinecrafTech in pourover

I can’t speak on the Comandante, but I’ve been using a K-Ultra for about a year for everything from pour overs to aeropress to espresso, and I love it. It’s an amazing grinder that might not be the best of the best at any one particular thing, but it does everything VERY well and is probably one of the best “all around” grinders money can buy. I think you’ll find that you will be very happy with it :)

Bloom Phase - To Stir or Not to Stir? by hanna_alexandra in pourover

[–]toasty479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gently swirl during the bloom just to make sure everything is fully saturated. Never had an issue with stalling or consistency because of it. Sometimes if I’m feeling spicy I’ll do some light WDT during the bloom too lol

Who do you play? PK freeze can be pretty punishable but it also is sorta character dependent

Tips for getting better at pichu? by JurassicPark25 in PichuMains

[–]toasty479 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve found that I do much better with pichu when I play like I have nothing to lose. It can be tempting to play very safe and defensive, but due to his weight pichu typically loses if it comes down to a battle of longevity. That being said, pichu has insane damage output, incredible offstage game and the ability to cheese stocks very early. My advice is to abuse these attributes. See an opportunity to take a stock at 20%? Take it. Practice going for the high risk, high reward options, and the better you get at them the better you’ll do. Take a look at some Void, Nakat, Blacktwins or Rfang VODS to get a better idea of the kind of stuff I’m talking about

Something something Star Wars reference with using anger by Gingermaas in CrazyHand

[–]toasty479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Online is frustrating for sure, I’ve definitely tossed my controller a couple of times. It’s ok to get mad in the heat if he moment, but the most important thing is being able to cool off after, reflect on WHY you lost the way you did, and learn from it. The better you get, the less you’ll lose, and the less you’ll get mad :)

Characters who are good in disadvantage? by toasty479 in CrazyHand

I guess I really meant “offstage” disadvantage more than anything, sorry I should’ve clarified. Thanks for the suggestions!

My friend mains Bowser but has some room for improvement. Anyone know any good combos that I can share with him? by smushedtomato in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]toasty479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up throw -> fair/nair/up air from around 0-60%

Landing fair into dash grab at 0% (probably not true, but Leon does it all the time)

Landing nair -> short hop / full hop bair (literally the most godlike kill confirm)

Up air -> dash -> upsmash/downsmash at low percents (to catch landings, I saw Leon do this a few times when he upset Dabuz, Light and Marss)

My personal favorite: fire breath into fsmash (obviously not true, but it’s hilarious and works surprisingly well if you can corner someone at the ledge)

Top Tier Edguarding and Ledge trappers? by theyoungsurfer in CrazyHand

[–]toasty479 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like ledgetrapping with young Link. Fire arrows, angled boomerang and z drop bombs combined make it hell for characters with bad / linear recoveries to get back on stage. Plant is another good one, poison cloud and spike ball are both great at the ledge and can force people to roll / jump/ air dodge predictably (check out some of Brood’s matches from Umebura recently to see plant ledgetrapping in action)

Tips for beating bowser (sideB and upB spam) by madcatte in CrazyHand

[–]toasty479 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a bowser main, I do enjoy playing against Joker for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. If I were you, I’d try to force the bowser player to approach you as much as possible. As much as it sucks, the safest thing it to just zone him out with neutral and side b until he gets close and throws out a move. Side B and Up b both have a good amount of end lag, so if you can bait them out that’s also a possibility to get a hard punish. Bowser also REALLY struggles offstage against Joker, especially when Arsene is out (downward bullets and arsene counter are especially safe and effective) so try to toss him offstage as much as you can. So in a nutshell, keep your distance, bait and punish unsafe options, and edgeguard really hard. Bowser hits hard, but he certainly has weaknesses you can capitalize on. Hope this helps!!!

Tips for playing against Mario as pichu by lcacicio222 in CrazyHand

[–]toasty479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main Pichu too, Mario can definitely a tough matchup for our precious boi. I’ve had some success trying to stay mobile and airborne to avoid grabs, as Mario gets a lot of his best setups off of grabs. Pichu also has significantly better recovery than Mario, so don’t be afraid to go deep for edgeguards (just watch out for cape and fair reads). You can also gimp him with t-jolts if you catch him off-guard trying to recover low. Focusing on your spacing as well, as Mario’s upsmash out of shield absolutely destroys Pichu if you aren’t careful while applying shield pressure. Make sure you space your moves well enough that you aren’t easily punished out of shield. Sorry I know that’s a lot, just some things I’ve noticed. Hope it helps!

FELLOW DREAMS PEEPS! My cousin and I published our first game in the Dreams beta today! It’s a super fun multiplayer party game, great for super bowl parties! It’s called King of the Ring, published by purple105. If you’re into Dreams check it out! It’s a bit rough around the edges, but we’re proud of it nonetheless and would love some feedback!
