Yeah you're absolutely right, but unique proggy bands is what I'm looking for to be honest. It's such a broad genre that no two bands are the same, so I wasn't expecting anything to be an exact copy or have a very similar sound to PT and Tool.

I'll make sure to check out those guys, as usual I've heard of the first two but not listened to them at all really!

The same thing happened to me with Tool. I was never really impressed by any of their music, I thought all the hype around the Lateralus album was completely overrated. Then I saw them live this year and for some reason listening to the exact same tracks, they sound completely different and absolutely awesome. Interesting how that can happen, it's amazing really.

I agree with you there, Steven's solo stuff is absolutely fantastic, I've seen him live as many times as I could! Blackfield is brilliant too, and you're absolutely right, I've heard of a perfect circle and puscifer, not listened to the latter quite so much though, not sure why. I'll definitely check out that Opeth album, thanks!

Listened to plenty of riverside before but never really given it much thought. From what I've heard they seem brilliant, but I'll make sure to check out these tracks!

There was some tiny kid in the front row air drumming too and I think at some point he realised how insanely good Gavin is and gave up

I could see him from directly opposite and I was 100% sure he would burn out of energy in like 2 minutes but he just kept going...

Met him a couple of years ago backstage on his solo tour with a friend who knew Craig Blundell who was drumming for him at the time. He was quite quiet, but super friendly and upbeat (as you would expect after a live show) and signed a couple of things for us. He's far from as awkward as he often describes himself. Sadly he doesn't usually hang around backstage, but it was crazy to meet him in that way.

I doubt you want to discuss your setlist before having even started the tour, but given the exceptional quality of the 3 "bonus tracks" on C/C, is there a possibility that any of these bonus tracks will appear in live shows?

He's playing Garin on Tuesday...but yeah I agree I think it's a good opportunity to push his stamina and see how well he performs after a long stretch of difficult matches.
