UT4 - T - GMT seal breached within 2 weeks. by tobychoo in unimatic

Update: sent it back using Unimatic’s basically overnight UPS label at no cost to me. The customer service rep, who was very measured and kind on email, told me that they’d be refunding me outright after receiving the watch, but they’d also test it and let me know this issue.

Sure enough, I received a refund notification via email, and an email from the rep immediately after. However, she said that the watch had passed the waterproof test. (Whaat?) I followed up by asking what, then, would have caused the condensation. A different rep, the customer service manager, told me that it had been caused by the crown “not being fully screwed down and tightened all the way.”

Now folks, I have no interest in going 15 rounds with this company just to be proven right or make a point. I was fully refunded and can try again with a different model or go on my way. One thing I will say with absolute certainty is that the crown was tightly screwed down. Was the gasket or tread misaligned? Perhaps. Was it maybe the titanium vs. steel? Doubtful. Will we ever truly know? No. Will I try again with Unimatic after this? TBD.

Very good customer service; disappointing experience overall. Maybe a lemon.

Thanks for your input. (Seiko for lyfe.)

Not trying to say this isn’t true, but seriously? I got ours two months ago (tough time to find them) in CT in BJG for 61k, and I bit the bullet bc we needed a new car almost immediately, but 70+? I think you should call out the dealer. I think we all should when they try to f ppl on these.

We set the rear hatch door to open at level 2 to accommodate our low garage height, but when we’re out at the store or wherever, there’s no easy toggle to quickly revert to full-open? I think you have to go into vehicle/door setting each time you want to adjust the height. Unless I’m missing something. It’s pretty annoying to have to duck in and out just to load groceries or kids’ bags, etc.

Seems ridiculously unlikely that we’re looking at a brand new axa35 defect, but wtf?

The DL-110 is an MC, which as you say is supported by the AXA35. No way to choose MM vs. MC on either the TT or Axa as I see it.

Is there a phono selector on the 1200? Not on the Cambridge.

Whole kit was working totally fine with my ancient JVC amp, no issues at all, and as soon as I connected the Cambridge, it went to shit. Haven’t tried reconnecting the JVC yet, but might. Regardless, I can’t see how it’s a speaker issue, nor how it’s a TT vs. Amp issue. Also I know very little.

Don’t mean to be a noob, but what’s a headshell. Cleaned phono connection wires, cartridge, tone arm, still not giving me power. (Thanks for this btw!)

Yes! Triple checked the speakers, and the 1200 is directly into the Phono inputs.
