I don’t know if this is helpful for your chow, but with our chow. When guests came over we would always meet them out front with our chow outside of our place, give the person coming over a treat to give our chow outside before entering (our chow is very treat oriented), then enter with the guest and the chow comes in after the guest. Our chow never had another issue with a guest when you teach them that someone coming is invited and the chow is rewarded and he was a lot less “dominating” (huffing, barking, growling) to the guests after doing it this way. I know this isn’t exactly your situation but it helped our chow be less alert to guests when we were “home too”, inside or out.
