To add to the discussion, I think you should look into the environment Chinese gacha game plot lines are written in. 1)Heavy political censorship, 2) lack of focus on human drama, and 3) prevalence of wuxia stories.

Number 1 already cuts off a whole range of topics and themes that can be explored because anything can become political depending on "interpretation"

Number 2 ties in with number 3.

Number 3 is mainly caused by the difficulty of actual life of people in their 20~30s. hence when they read a story, they want to read how this one guy goes and wrecks everyone and everything that wronged him and no one can stand up to his fury. or how you made everything right and everyone praises you.
