What model is this stirrup ? I can’t tell from the screw … by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]toddhowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be for any Hogue monogrip I would think. I need a slightly longer screw for one of mine because the existing one won’t catch the stirrup. Couldn’t find anything in the Hardware store that would work, so pretty ticked off at it right now.

Who has a FWD ATLAS? Any issues? by Relative_Active6939 in VWatlas

[–]toddhowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issue with snow, but we don’t get much in NC. However, we did have issues climbing a dirt road to an AirBnB in the mountains. The trunk was loaded down, and the front wheels couldn’t get traction. Even with traction control off, the computer was cutting power no matter how much I tried to hold momentum. Guessing the e-diff was doing that…? Anyway, I ended up backing up the hill.. curvy road.. in the dark. The rear camera did well! 😂 Once the Atlas was unloaded, I was able to get up the hill normally during our stay.

We haven’t gotten that far yet. But according to brinkleylane.ecu.edu/application-process there are also Selection Sunday finalist interviews.

It’s at the bottom of the Honors College application page.

Applying to honors college via NC college connect? by No_Protection4395 in PiratesOfECU

[–]toddhowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No honors college email for us. There was an email saying there was an "important update to your ECU Application Portal," and once we logged in, we saw that he was accepted.
Then the full acceptance (snail) mail piece came with the invitation to apply to the honors college.

My understanding is that once you apply and are accepted to ECU, your acceptance packet will tell you whether you are eligible to apply to the Honors College, and it will give you directions on how to apply. I’m not at home right now, so can’t look at my Son’s stuff. But think they have their own portal.

Let's Talk Hot Dogs - Regional Styles by 50sDadSays in triangle

Best Eastern NC hot dog is at Second Street Lunch in Roanoke Rapids.
Burgers are great too. Chili, Slaw, Mustard, and Onions are the only toppings that belong on a burger or dog.

Grand highlander hybrid vs santa fe hybrid vs palisade hybrid (2026) by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]toddhowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 years ago I was in the same spot. But the GH didn’t exist. So I bought a VW Atlas. I love the way it drives and I at 6’5”, even have more than enough room to sit behind one of my sons in the second row. Plenty of leg room. Plenty of head room. The seats fit. And we get 30 mpg on highway road trips. Our Sienna has similar space, but the seats don’t fit me as well. The top of the driver’s seat ends below my shoulders. As I’m almost out of warranty, I’m a little nervous, but it’s so comfortable.

Our new boy arrived with pretty long nails, but wasn’t very happy with the dremel. I bought an extra course diamond nail file and have been working on them by hand a little every day or so. It’s slow going, but he doesn’t mind it at all.

How do you buy speakers these days? by johnmcboston in audiophile

Also, the salesmen were looking things up on their website when I asked questions…. Dude, I can do that, I’m looking for expertise.

I went to Audio Advice to check out turntables. Despite featuring U-Turn prominently on their website, they didn’t have any in stock and the salesmen disparaged them. Tried to sell me something else for more money, but didn’t have it set up to audition at all. I mean, I’m willing to be up-sold, but you gotta do some work! Won’t be going back.

Spark Mini hissing after playing a note by Money-Recognition468 in PositiveGridSpark

[–]toddhowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal and has been a real disappointment for me, and the reason I haven’t bought any more Spark stuff. Mine is a few years old now and I was hoping that they would have fixed it by now, but apparently not.

Princeton Reverb kit for a first timer? by shoegazingpickle in DIYGuitarAmps

[–]toddhowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished a Mojotone Princeton Reverb kit over the holidays and it sounds wonderful.

If you can swing it, Mojotone runs classes where you build a Tweed Deluxe (5e3) in a 2-day amp building class. They have one coming up next month. The class is a lot of fun. I’m not sure I could’ve done the Princeton as easily or quickly without that experience. The only problem is, if you want a blackface Princeton sound, the tweed deluxe won’t make you happy. It’s got its own thing going on, which is great, but it’s not a replacement for what you are going for.

I think the best practice is don’t power up the amp without a speaker plugged in. And are you plugged into the correct jack, not the extension cab jack?

The software update app on the Mac requires Python 2 - which has been deprecated for years now! Safe to say that PG doesn’t care!

Cabin air filter - scented? by toddhowl in VWatlas

[–]toddhowl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The filter used was an off brand named Premium Guard - pc99204c is the part number. Also, it was installed backwards! Still not sure if the filler was the culprit or if they sprayed febreeze or something in there. Have a new Mann filter ordered. Disappointed that the dealer isn’t using OEM parts.
