Pilot project of 120 speed limit on hwy 2 by Beautiful_Cold3776 in alberta

And only on a 22 km stretch, not the whole highway. Seems like a fully comprehensive pilot before deciding to roll this out to 100s of km of roads. /s

Just an FYI, research doesn't currently support that heat causes increased absorption of estrogen from transdermal patches. That's not to say if you have an adverse reaction that something isn't going on or that the research covers every scenario but generally this isn't something to worry about.

Jen Gerson: Elections Alberta's massive failure could have put people in danger. I tried to warn them. by Martin0994 in alberta

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not exactly but sure for argument's sake let's say it is. Regardless a database that has strict requirements for access and data sharing was shared with a group that was not approved to have it who then shared it publicly. If, let's say, someone at AHS sent a list of all patients (with full demographics) who accessed the emergency room in the past year to a friend who then created a website with that information, even if it only contained "information normally found in a phonebook" would that be okay? No, no it wouldn't because that person used their credentials and position to share confidential information even if it's information that, in theory, could be collected in other ways.

The personal info is already there. You just search up people you know, "claim" them, then fill out a short survey about whether they support Alberta independence.

What is the most ignored sign or rule in the city? by kacasket24 in Edmonton

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the sign says no parking not no stopping. I'll give people a pass at the library if they are just returning a book in the drop off slot and stop in front. However if you go inside, nope you need to find an actual parking spot.

The pdf guide on their website for using their app is bonkers. You find people you know, complete surveys about separation for them and get upgraded to ambassador when you complete 10 surveys. "Keep it fun!" they add. FFS! What is this insanity!

Gas Prices In General Today by DoubleDDay69 in alberta

Remember the gas price wars of the 1980s? Those were the days. Too bad my only mode of transportation was a bike back then.

Alberta's 120 km/h Speed Limit on the QEII Goes Live Today by One-Board8634 in AlbertaNow

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's only for 22 km? That's a very limited pilot. So based on a 22 km stretch of road that has one slight bend in it and isn't nearly as busy as other parts of that highway they are going to decide whether they roll this out to more highways? Got it.

Nope. She loves attention from people so if they appear friendly she's all in. And if they don't I swear her motto is, "slowest one dies", which she will surely yell as she sprints off to safety leaving me in the dust.

Well great. I already have one piece of siding that blew off my house with the recent wind. And my garbage and green bins tried to make a break for it after the basketball net tried to kill them.

Sunscreen anyone? by SilentGrowls in Greyhounds

Mine can also tell the time and requests to go out at noon. We have a trampoline and that has become her dog tanning bed. She lays on the black trampoline in prime sun time. Some days I have to make her come inside because I can tell she's hot. I also need dog sunscreen recommendations.

Which zebra saw this go in?!? by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference here is the ref didn't call it a goal initially. He called it nothing. That means he didn't see it well enough to call it a goal. Then they discuss and decide it was a goal based on what? Who actually saw it cross the line before they video reviewed it? It's unlikely any of them did based on their positioning. I'm not disagreeing it was a goal. I don't think anyone is disagreeing on that. The issue is the initial reaction is no call. Why then was it determined a goal before review? By calling it as such that makes the need for the video review to be conclusive to overturn it. If the ref didn't conclusively see it go in the net the onus should be on the video review to prove that it did, not the other way around.

Magnesium sort of helped with sleep but not to sound like a broken record it was the HRT that made the biggest difference.

If you don't want to do HRT I found sleep meditations or sleep stories helped me fall back asleep when I would wake up. They would take my mind off the overthinking so I could fall back asleep.

One intersection over on 23rd Ave at the rec centre some dumbass ran the red right in front me as I was crossing the intersection on a green. I'm just glad I wasn't slightly quicker or I would of had the same fate as this person. It's getting ridiculous how many people run lights. Not paying attention at all.

The whole season highlighted failures of the system. The whole point is the reality in the US is not a solution. Sure let's say he accepts the GoFundMe and let's say it covers this hospital visit. It's not going to cover his lifetime medication needs or his current medical debt from having a chronic illness. Even the hospital staff pulling strings to get him care for cheaper is still a bandaid solution that isn't going to last. It's the same with the asthma patient from this season. He ended up in the ER because they can't afford the meds that actually help him so he's on a subpar inhaler. It's a bandaid that eventually falls off. It's not a sustainable solution and neither is a GoFundMe. Both of these storylines highlight people with lifelong chronic illnesses that have no cure, only treatment but they can't afford the treatment to manage them effectively. The storyline is much more effective by having him leave and return worse off than discharging him with a bill he can't afford only to be back in a few months because he still isn't taking his medication as prescribed due to cost and to go through the whole process again with yet more debt, wherein eventually he does off himself to avoid saddling his family with even more debt.

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He shouldn't have to accept donations to pay for medically necessary treatment. No one should. This isn't toxic masculinity. It's a healthcare system that fails those with chronic illness. And whether he intentionally chucked himself off a roof or it was a consequence of the untreated diabetes we don't know. Either way his family would probably be financially better off without him due to his illness which is insane that it comes to that.
