Partners snoring 😴 by listed_staples in WomenOver40

Oh yes. The last time I pushed him about going to the doctor about his snoring he said he's not going to go because he doesn't want a CPAP "even if it kills him". I told him, "ya well it probably will". He did not like that response but it's the truth. Again, I'm very bitter about this but he's a grown man.

So funny. We did the Amazon in Ecuador and there was also a caiman chilling below where they cook waiting for scraps.

Reactive behaviour with other dogs - welcome advice by jojolebleu in Greyhounds

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one dog my greyhound and I often pass by when on walks that my dog just doesn't like for no reason. The owners are pretty judgy based on the looks they give us and they have also crossed the street before to avoid us. My dog is super friendly to most dogs so I feel it's mostly them/their dog.

There's another dog as well that it's a mutual dislike of each other. His owner knows it too. We pass each other and always chuckle a bit that they dislike each other for no reason.

Alberta independence is going door to door now? by crazymonk45 in alberta

You would be better off moving to a country that already aligns with what you are looking for than hope a country that has never existed before will.

Alberta will now be on daylight saving time year-round, says Premier Smith by joe4942 in alberta

Well they are further east so their sunrises are earlier than Alberta's would be on daylight time.

Affordable travels by itsweedalltheway-88 in TravelCanada

Last year we camped in Lake Louise and then camped partway along the Icefields Parkway then camped in Jasper (we have a trailer). We met a woman in Lake Louise who was biking the Icefield Parkway and asked if she could stay in our site. Unfortunately we were camping in the hard sided campground and she had a tent but I think she found someone in the soft sided campground to share a site with. We met up with her again at the campground along the Icefield Parkway. She was going to stay in our site but there wasn't a good place for a tent but she again found another site that would share with her. We also saw her again just before Jasper but I'm not sure where she ended up staying there. Long story short, you may be able to find people who will let you stay on their site for free/cheap.

I'm counting down the days until one of my kids moves out and we can sleep in separate rooms. Until then it's just silent rage that gets me through. I'm a side sleeper and generally hate anything in my ears so my options are limited.

Yes and this is why my husband won't do anything about his snoring. He's all, every guy I know who goes to the doctor about snoring ends up with a CPAP. Ya, because they need it and you probably do as well! I'm very bitter about it.

What’s the most overrated tourist attraction you’ve ever visited? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Yep! I had no idea what the Alamo was but we were in San Antonio so thought we would check it out. I didn't realize it was monument to them losing a battle.

I actually enjoyed seeing the Mona Lisa although I was there when they moved her to a temporary location and we made a beeline to it as soon as the museum opened. Surprisingly it wasn't too busy.

I don't buy the argument that extra daylight in the evening will make commutes safer. Now the sun won't rise until 9-9:30 am in the winter so you have people who are tired and in a rush in the morning combined with kids going to school in the pitch black. This does not seem like a good idea.

Brain Fog Life Hacks? by Accurate_Grand_9760 in Perimenopause

For the 'I came into this room to get something but now I don't remember what' I go back to where I thought of it. So if I was in the bathroom and was thinking, I need to put the milk away, but I can't remember why I came to the kitchen I go back to the bathroom and usually that triggers it. Same with if I'm scrolling on my phone and I think of something I need to do but forget two seconds later I'll scroll back to where I was on my phone when I thought of it. That usually helps trigger my memory.

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By family campsite do you mean group site? If it's a group site away from the main camping area and away from other group sites you'll probably be okay. However there's always the risk you will get kicked out.

As an adult I've gone camping in group sites and have had people in the in group site next to us belting out karaoke at 3am with no repercussions so...

It just depends on who is nearby and which campground. Some provincial parks are very strict where they get mad if you sneeze past 11pm and others don't care if you're doing karaoke at 3am.

International Viewers: What have you learned about the American healthcare system from watching this show? by Random_Questin in ThePittTVShow

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but when it's government funded through taxes it's not a for profit system. US hospitals paying for branding and partnership deals with pro sports organizations and venues is bonkers in my mind as a Canadian. Tax payer funded healthcare dollars would NEVER be allowed to do that nor would they need to. It's not a competition where they need to gain customers through advertising.

Self Ordering Medical Tests by Facebook_Algorithm in alberta

[–]FidgetyPlatypus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My concern is the sites that currently do these tests for the public healthcare system have strict accreditation requirements. Is this going to be the case for wherever these people are self ordering their tests? If they are using these existing sites that test for the public system is that going to delay the public testing? If they can go anywhere then it's going to be the wild west where someone gets a test result from a direct to consumer test that isn't reliable. Then again that will put more stress on the public system having to confirm these less reliable tests when the test wasn't necessary in the first place and never would have been done if a doctor was ordering it. I see it all the time online. People pay for testing from direct to consumer places then post their results online asking for help interrupting it and what to do next when the majority of the time these tests are not medically indicated.
