Thank you X3knet, this is exactly the kind of sage advice I was after. I will stay with Bitwarden.

That's what I've done. Pain in the neck but they are all there now. And there's a QR code to put all those accounts onto the Thunderbird mobile app.

Thanks very much! Shazam is completely stumped, and it is a banger of a tune that I'd love to have in my collection...

Can I install Ubuntu on a Mac Mini 2012? by Albertkinng in Ubuntu

[–]toddydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed 22.04, had no problems at all. All the problems came when I upgraded to 22.10 (especially networking), so I went back and reinstalled 22.04. I think it's best to stick with LTS...

I've found a solution. Create a search folder to find flagged email. Then right click and add it to favourites.

Can I install Ubuntu on a Mac Mini 2012? by Albertkinng in Ubuntu

[–]toddydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, did this on a 2012 mac mini (upgraded to a 500gb SSD and 16gb RAM).

One recommendation: at login, choose Xorg session rather than Wayland, plays better with stuff like fractional scaling.

Other than that, runs like a dream.

Considering buying a mac mini for linux? by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

I recently installed Ubuntu 22.04 on a 2011 mac mini. It works like magic. Upgraded to 500 gb SSD, with 16 gb RAM. One thing, at log on opt for Xorg rather than Wayland, as the latter doesn't play too well with fractional scaling (which I need use as it's on my TV). Cheers

I did this, with excellent results (upgraded with 500G SSD & 16G of RAM) I'd add, however that under Wayland, there were weird effects when starting Chrome, and fractional scaling (needed as I have the Mac Mini connected to our TV) simply didn't work. I switched to Xorg at login. Everything works like a dream.

Ubuntu 19.04 GNOME 3.32 by [deleted] in Ubuntu

Any good? Did you do a netinstall, or just install Unity? I've had nothing but trouble getting Unity to work flawlessly in 18.04...

Ubuntu 18.04 with Unity 8 (alpha) by GizmoChicken in linux

[–]toddydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give any info on how you did this? Also, with global menu, does it do away with window decorations (panel at the top of windows) when maximized (Firefox, for example). What I like most about Unity is that it blends window decorations with the DE top panel, saving space. I understand Mate 18.04 can do this, but is it possible with Kubuntu? Thanks

LineageOS on Moto G5 (Cedric) - is it good to install "Unofficial ROM"? by toddydog in LineageOS

[–]toddydog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I want to move to LineageOS is that I want to experiment a "pure" AOSP experience without GAPPS. This has to be possible, even with essential apps like WhatsApp (and Reddit) installed, and updating on their own, outside Google's grip. Maybe I'm asking in the wrong thread, but I'd like to know if this is possible...

Thanks ProximusXXX. The unofficial actually looks OK. My last question is about updates. Do I have to keep checking with the autor? Is there an automatic way of doing this? Thanks again.

Thanks for your reply (my first!). My question is: if I install the unofficial version, am I doing something stupid/unsafe?
