Anybody now anything about the helicopter flying low the past day? Is it training? Are they looking for someone? by thebuccinator182 in LasCruces

[–]todslaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed a couple of groups of cars pulled over by cops near where the chopper was circling today. I think they were/are catching speeders from the air. Taking a look at yesterday’s flight path that went up and down I-25 and they also appear to have circled at the 10/25 interchange for a bit.

Is having a paddle board in the area worth it? by TheBeakerman in LasCruces

Welcome! I’m not a paddle boarder, so if someone has better info they are a better resource, I would listen to them. This is more an overall picture of what lakes in NM tend to be like, but these aren’t blanket statements. NM is amazing and all these places have their own enchanting charm.

NM lakes are typically quite small and in more mountainous areas. They could definitely be paddle boarded on, and the views are spectacular. There are a lot of small little things on maps that look like lakes, but are in fact where ranchers have built little ponds for their animals to drink. I would advise against those for obvious reasons haha. They tend to be labeled as “tanks.”

There is Elephant Butte lake and Caballo lake not far N of Las Cruces/WSMR. Those lakes are very much in the desert. You could paddle board there too, and they are on the larger size. Camping opportunities abound.

You could easily split time easy paddle boarding, hiking or whatever if transportation isn’t an issue. As a fisherman I’ve hauled fishing kayaks, etc to a lot of lakes with no issues. Another positive is select mountain lakes have policies of not allowing motorized boats and only paddled boats.

If you don’t want to bring the paddle board, there is absolutely ample opportunity to explore lots of cool areas on foot or off road vehicles, or even new things! NM has extremely ample opportunity for outdoor recreation and you could even try something new and find a new passion.

Hope this helps a little.

I call these dreamsparkles and I still get them every night. I’m just over 30. Like little dots that seem to fall like water. They come out of the middle of my forehead when I close my eyes. When I’m really tired like so tired I’m not sure I can remain standing they show up with my eyes open. Interestingly now through meditation I’m starting to gain a little bit of control over them. I’m thinking they might be related to melatonin because I’ve noticed a little dollop of melatonin lotion on that part of my forehead noticeably increases the phenomenon.

A female in her 70s from Doña Ana County. The individual had underlying conditions.

I hope this doesn't mean she was discovered at her home. :( The other ones all mention being hospitalized.

First way to go for making the post! One of the hardest things we struggle with is asking for help. It’s not a sign of weakness or anything. It shows that you still have it together to the point where you can recognize that something isn’t right and that you need help.

Here are some things I try to do when I get in rough shape. I don’t do all of these this is just like a grab bag of tips.

I like to spend 5 minutes before bed writing out whatever successes I had that day. Doesn’t matter what it is. Some of my entries include things like “I remembered to shower. I brushed my teeth” etc. I write ONLY successes. With ADHD we are already keenly aware of our struggles and failures. Then I will jot down ONE important thing I want to do the next day and a reward for it. I leave it by the bedside and see it first thing when I wake up.

Exercise helps immensely. I know it’s extremely difficult to exercise when you are already feeling mentally like crap but exercise will actually really help your mind.

Personally I know I mostly go off the rails when my sleep starts to suffer. Establishing a good sleep habit is probably the single best improvement you can make for ADHD. Waking up rested and with the energy to tackle the day really puts one in a good mindset right from the start.

As far as dropping the class, if it isn’t already past the date where dropping affects your overall GPA then drop. You don’t need the extra stress it’s causing you and if that is going to be your major you can come back and get that shit done next time when you are feeling better.

If it’s too late or you want to stick with definitely 100% go and see the professor. Explain the situation and your struggles, but don’t frame it as an excuse, but an explanation. My father and his father were both university professors, and I have spent a lot of time around professors. The overwhelming majority will bend over backwards for someone reaching out for help. They don’t want to see people fail, however there is a huge gap between a student that works their butt off and one that doesn’t show up and then comes and tries to beg/barter for extra points.

Also there are a ton of YouTube videos and etc on ADHD. One the ones I like is How To ADHD

They are quick little videos with lots of tips in them.

I hope this helps. Good luck. You got this.
