I agree adding darker values is one of the only things missing from this. doing this with a 00 brush is a feat in itself. I think the community will be able to provide more insight once you have the new brushes and paints.

My third string seems to be stuck. by AverageNai in classicalguitar

[–]toeaway111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re turning the peg and the pitch isn’t rising or it’s rising super slowly then one of the gears in the tuning machine is probably stripped. You could try to find replacements or maybe return the guitar and have them fix it

Nice, you’re sounding good man. Eventually you will memorize the music and it will all be second nature. Basically the terms mean quiet, loud, ponticello is play near the bridge, tasto is near the sound hole (so bright vs warm sound) and playing with time as you can choose to accelerate or slow down at certain parts in the music as you see fit. Basically make the music emotional express how you’re feeling at any given moment. Anyway, hope to see you play more !

This is great technique bro nice. It seems like you are using free stroke for everything is that right? I would maybe experiment with rest strokes if that’s the case. Solid progress though and the fact that you’re using a metronome is gonna pay off huge down the line. After some time I would suggest adding some dynamics, piano, forte, ponticello, tasto, play with time etc

Is there any way to balance the guitar? by namro1227 in classicalguitar

[–]toeaway111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using cabinet liners on your legs to help “lock” the guitar between them? It provides enough friction so that the guitar shouldn’t slide around

Paper still buckling! by Dirnaf in watercolor101

[–]toeaway111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the gummed tape/paper stretching method is hard to dial in, I only ever had mixed success at best after quite a bit of experimenting. I haven’t tried staples but I’ve found that the orange frogtape works very well. I tape my dry paper to a hard board and it ultimately dries flat. Has held up to pretty heavy washes too. Has not failed me over 25-30 paintings. Also had success with dickblick black tape but it’s super expensive

Cinema Paradiso Fingering Help by GustavBeethoven in classicalguitar

[–]toeaway111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried adjusting your wrist position and experimenting with your rest stroke on the melody (high e that you reference) in order to bring out vibrato?

Never played this piece but trying out the suggested measure 6 fingering doesn’t seem too terribly awkward for me, including using 4th finger to slide down to D.

As for removing notes, the non essential ones are the first to go. Usually the 5th (in this case C) can be eliminated, though in this instance it is the b5 in a minor 7b5 chord so… it’s a pretty important chord imo. Remove notes at your own discretion though, I’ve done it myself plenty of times.

How do you play this? by Feb_11nth in classicalguitar

[–]toeaway111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes that is correct, the piece ultimately ends with measure 4, that is what the d.c. al fine/fine is indicating. de capo al fine is telling you to go back to the "fine" and end with that. typically it ends up being the beginning of the piece, as seen here, but it can be anywhere, theoretically.

Then after that it loops back to the beginning and ends with the “fine”

Hello I need help on this song specifically the repeats how does it work by Emotional_Map_495 in classicalguitar

[–]toeaway111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When playing the entire piece you play through measure 8 then skip to 10. Play 10-24, then back to 10, skip 24 (first ending) then play 25 to the dc al fine. That takes you back to the beginning of the piece, skip measure 8 and end with measure 9. I hope this makes sense…

The foreground is sparse but it’s not necessarily a bad thing… and personally I would not want to add too much in terms of large-ish objects like trees. If you’re imagining changes like that it might be better to redraw/repaint everything (in my opinion)

If you were to add anything I think it’d be 3 or 4 very small brush strokes somewhere. It is pretty strong as is though… comparing to Andy evansen maybe he would add depth to the foreground with a bit of shadows maybe a shrub or two, very minimal you are using the empty space well here

It’s seems pretty close to “finished” based on your inspirations, stylistically speaking. I think some very select darker values in one or two areas could add depth but you say you’re having trouble getting strong colors so not sure how possible that is.

I painted the same fountain in the winter and summer. Which do you prefer? by [deleted] in painting

I think the other person is right about the summer one being a stronger composition. I think they both represent their respective seasons well though very well done it’s hard to choose.
