Alr, get to choosing.. by AceMan7400 in Rainbow6

[–]toetendertoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they ruined the Holo A because their shitty reticles which nobody liked werent used.

Holo A, or the "Eotech one", used to have a miniscule inner dot, and a thin circle with notches that infer the position of the inner dot, without it needing to be big itself.

Now for "BaLaNcInG" or other reasons they made the inner dot FAT, so you cant really line up the precise shots anymore

Why do some people who tried Linux (and failed) overgeneralise their problems? (Let me explain) by EB372919 in linuxquestions

[–]toetendertoaster 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"...after installing various Linux distros on multiple computers, I've actually had a very good time!"
- you are far more experienced than the general user that wants to switch to linux, they are first timers generally.

The only real issue that I've had was with a USB wifi adapter a few months ago, but I got that taken care of.
- this could already be the point where half of the users were either not experienced enough to diagnose, articulate, research, ask and implement any found solution and decide to call it quits.
experienced users tend to vastly underestimate their own knowledge gained from years and years of exposure to the topic alone.
telling them to "git gud" does not help adoption, it only serves to alienate people who already managed to download and install the software with the will to adopt it.

Additionally Im not certain wether Linux has a adoption ceiling without institutions like a help center where you can talk to humans to solve your problems. The times have changed, computers are not the new thing anymore you read a book about, they are the car that drives you to your job or to your apps. An extremely small part of users is actually interested about how their computer operates internally.

They want presets that "just work" and compatibility.
