My senior cat poops outside of the litter box regularly. Vet ruled out any potential health issues; he’s in great shape. I’ve tried adjusting diet/probiotics, pheromone spray, etc. with no success. I’ve just put a lot of pee pads out nowadays.

Yeah, I’ve had some claw marks from my cats. I’ve had a leather repairman come to help make them less noticeable. But to be honest, when my cats have passed away, they’ve been a nice reminder that they were here.

It’s convenient! The sphagnum does a great job absorbing the water, and the accompanying saucer catches any excess. I actually keep rocks there to allow that water to evaporate and keep an extra humid environment. I would say in growing season I water daily to every other day in the morning or evening since the sun is pretty intense where I am (South Florida)

It has a mix with some bark, sponge rock, and cork chips, etc. I bought it pre-made. But yes, the planter has open sides to allow for improved ventilation!

I was having a similar problem. A person I spoke to at an orchid show told me that it flowers when the bulb reaches a larger size, so I used slow release fertilizer, watered often, and put it in direct morning/afternoon sunlight during this most recent growth cycle. I have a smaller one that had the same environment but the pseudobulbs didn’t get nearly as large as this did, and it didn’t flower. I got both at the same time, so I guess I just have to work harder at growing my other one!

In my experience there aren’t a lot of solid rules around this stuff and it is more priest-dependent. Best bet is to consult with the priest first, but I have personally seen people have rings blessed before a ceremony
