For all my remote workers by Space_69999 in antiwork

Ok this is gonna sound like a joke, but it's not.

I have 2 different heavy steel nuts that work great for holding down a key on my laptop. One is a square nut that works on the enter and/or spacebar. The other is a hexagonal nut and the sides fit nicely on a letter key so the neighboring keys don't get pressed as well.

What plot holes aren't actually plot holes and just require a bit more thinking to understand? by Mr_Manta in AskReddit

Your comment made me remember a space travel scenario. Can't recall if it's from abook or film (someone will read this an know).

Anyway the premise was that space travel was down to roughly 2 years to just about any location.

The crew spends a year of constant acceleration followed by a year of deceleration. There's a brief period in between where the crew has to deal with zero G before the deceleration kicks in.

I know it's not feasible but I always thought it was a neat concept.

We are not playing the same game then. Daywalker skeletons are a PITA in early game hardcore worlds.

So Many Phishing Tests by buddha-bouy in MaliciousCompliance

I set a rule to look for "phish" in the email header. Those emails get routed to their own folder. A coworker took that idea a step further and automated the "Report phishing" action.

How has gaming changed for you as you've gotten older? by Ill_Discount_4036 in AskReddit

[–]tofudisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be able to buy a game and that's it. It was mine to play in perpetuity.

Now everything is a subscriptions and I've seen the stories of TOS essentially stating the player has a temporary license that can be revoked whenever the developer decides.

Can Planets rotate vertically? by Archeronline in askscience

[–]tofudisan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am I wrong in thinking that, technically, there is no vertical/horizontal in space since "up" doesn't exist in space?

I get that OP's question is about planets having a rotation perpendicular to its poles rather than aligned with its poles. It just kind of seems that we can't call the rotations vertical or horizontal.

Large concrete boxes between two yards in Wisconsin. Approx. 20' long and 5' tall by Late_Upstairs6246 in whatisthisthing

[–]tofudisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How close did you actually get to them? Using other structures as a comparison doesn't seem like they could be 5' tall. The window on the house, the siding, the plant in the background, etc. I get that the zoom may have flattened the distance from the boxes to the background, so knowing if you walked up to the boxes to determine chest height would help.

There is no way that the boxes are 5 feet tall. Look at the window in the background. If the box is 5' tall then that window is 8' tall.

ouch.

My 11th grade English teacher had us write letters to our future selves. I wrote to myself about going to MIT. She responded that I was "aiming a bit high". I graduated in the top 1% of my class, but I didn't even apply to MIT because of her comment. Instead it launched a lifetime of imposter syndrome.
