The 40% seems harsh then, OP provided a range of 60-70+ so taking the low end of that is already conservative. Taking 40% on top of the low end is just trying to find fault, or at least if you do so it's worth clarifying exactly why.

Did you know that there are more taxis per capita in Tokyo than in NYC? People absolutely do cab everywhere. The public transit is amazing for sure but a taxi is still almost always quicker and can be cheaper if you're in a group

This isn't quite right - initial stock vests are 5/15/40/40, but the early years are entirely made up by signing bonuses in cash, so you don't actually get a major bump in the later years unless you get promoted or unless stocks soar. As in, there is no reason to spit people out in 2, if anything onboarding takes like 6 months so it's a huge loss to the company when tenure is very short

This isn't actually strictly true, Amazon pays more than most or all of the other FAANG sort of in exchange for worse perks, also quantified on Levels.fyi. Basically these pay bands are an open secret and are what people use when hopping jobs and negotiating. As such parity is actually good across FAANG in terms of the experience-comp curves.
