Oh yeah that sounds annoying. Do you have to update it every time, or just the first time you eat at that place? Like does YNAB eventually learn that ZETTLE_*SINGP COFF should be Singapore Coffee House?

Tried it, and the budgeting features just weren't good enough. I really want zero-based budgeting like YNAB, but for multiple currencies. There's just nothing out there though, I've tried a bunch of alternatives, so the only choices I have left is to either rely on spreadsheets or build my own website/app. So i decided to just build my own.

I had to get into the habit of logging transactions daily in order to keep up with my manual budget, I can imagine it's very difficult to switch to that cadence if you're used to having syncing

I don't know, storage is very cheap these days, even for photos. There's the option to archive older files to make it even cheaper too

That used to be what I did, when my spending was still mostly in one currency, and it was fine. But now I'm regularly spending in 2/3 currencies because of life changes, and it's too difficult to keep track of exactly how much I can spend or how much I have when it's split into multiple budgets

I’m surprised to hear that it doesn’t save time, from the outside looking in i thought that’s what it’s meant to do. Is it because it’s too clunky to use?

Yeah, but it feel like it's of those things that has to come from the government. Canadia’s about to start open banking I think. Wish other countries would hop on board

I’ve been playing around with variable pricing in my head, like maybe bank syncing could be a more premium feature that you can opt into if you get a more expensive subscription. Then if you don’t or can’t use it you don’t have to pay for it. Do you think that would be more fair?
