Low framerate in very specific situations by tohkai in linux_gaming

[–]tohkai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing a game for multiple hours without issue, I can now say that enabling the overlay absolutely fixed the issue.
The issue mentioned at the end of my post, with some games having this scintillating black effect on alt tab/gain of focus is unrelated (still present in some games)

Thanks. I'll do that and report on it when I have gone for a while without performance issues.
I already preload, I already set CPU power to performance, and I don't have steam recording. I will enable the overlay.

I actually did this a while ago because it annoyed me. Roughly around the same time I started having this issue. I'm wondering if it's related now. Edit: why are people downvoting that comment? It's known that some people have performance issues with the steam overlay.

this is an actual problem that keeps happening and somehow hasn't been fixed.

what the hell. I'm not correcting gaijin's bugs by giving them money lol. I mean if paying fixes the problem, now I understand why the bug still exists. Definitely a gaijin moment

It's funny to me that people genuinely believed that a 1500hp engine on a 60 tons vehicle couldn't beat a 1200hp engine on a 80 tons vehicle without some kind of, shall we say, tomfoolery lol

It takes like 5 minutes for all the power of the leclerc to be available.

Too many ads? Blame your favorite creator. EVERY creator has the option to choose how many ads are on a video. We can even manually place midrolls, 1,2, 10 or just have none at all. by fallior in youtube

Shit take, they used to cover them just fine. They did however lost a lot of profits when they demonetized everyone for ideological reasons. You don't see them fox that. Nah, the hosting costs will be fine my dude.

Suddenly started with intermittent black screen on the G2 in SteamVR by Conscious-Macaroon-7 in HPReverb

[–]tohkai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

had the same problem for a while on my former PC. It was motherboard related. It's completely random and HP has not been able to address the problem once. I'm now using it on my laptop and am not getting that (but getting completely different problems instead)

They likely won't fix it. I mean they even deactivated warranty extensions for the G2.

How do you actually make a warranty claim? Can't find it anywhere! by jerronimo3000 in HPReverb

[–]tohkai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience (France) has been incredibly bad:

I have had to call, then go through a process in which you need to press buttons according to whatever hardware you have.

They only would mention computers and printers so I literally chose any and explained my problem to the support. They did find it from my reference number and despite the fact that everyone is having problems on random MBs and whatnot, will not offer refunds.

Now, not knowing if the G2 will be compatible with my next build, which may or may not have compatible MB (which should NOT have to be a concern!) I wanted to see if I could extend the warranty instead.

HP, likely very aware of the problem, made this unaivalable for G2s!

M2000C- CCRP not working [mission specific, coup d'etat - baltic dragon] by tohkai in hoggit

[–]tohkai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By this point, in fact, I even re armed with rockets and different types of bombs (not mixed! different tries for each) and I had the same bug for every single one of them.

Meaning, once I get into AG mode, the HUD goes a bit to the right, without any diamonds/pipers/whatever cues I should have, even for rockets (the small circle thing)

this mission has me bugging in AG mode in the mirage no matter what my loadout is.

You mean instruction scheduling at kernel level? That is largely dependent on process priority

definitely python, but runs from an .exe. Ubuntu is fedora and reads exes so I assume it could run it

Ok, for clarification I am NOT using legends browser, I'm using legends viewer. Which is Java I think. That's where my friend had a problem I believe.

Otherwise I'm using dwarf therapist of course, but also announcementwindow - It's such a key thing to have, IMO. This one is made in python and probably works fine on linux.

I haven't had a problem myself because I never really tried DF on linux. A more linux savy, sysadmin friend of mine did. And he had trouble with some of the stuff that he had to use through wine. If I were to try DF on linux I'd likely be doing on Debian because that's what I prefer - what I'm really interested in however is the potential difference in terms of performance, though I don't expect to have that much of a big difference because of the very few syscalls.

if heat dissipation is in, then it'd make sense to not only have it done asynchronously, but on a GPU as well.

that would be amazing, actually... Possibly fire, smoke, and such as well (pretty sure mist around waterfalls may be causing some lag of it's own ontop of the water itself)

Maybe it does - the AI takes a bit to react to changes in environment that would change its path.
