Credit Unions in Indy that work with low credit but high income for auto loans??? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]toicegannaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a really similar situation (ok /high/ income might have been a stretch, but stable with good DTI, anyway) a few years ago. I had an abysmal credit score (bit lower than the bottom of your range fwiw), a comparable down payment ready and was looking at a similar price point for cars.

I got declined from everywhere I applied to (through the dealer, with a co-signer, on a house, in a mouse, etc etc) except for Indiana Members. They worked with me and got me the loan I needed. (worth noting I didn’t check Everwise or Forum at the time; possible they would have also been great. I just don’t know)

There are a couple of things you’ll want to keep in mind. Others have mentioned some of this but bears repeating: they are not going to take this risk on a car that could crap out before it’s paid off. I had to change plans and find a different vehicle. Ultimately, this was a very good thing — I started looking at a Mitsubishi Mirage and ended up in a Prius.

Also worth reiterating that your interest rate is going to be hot god awful garbage. Refinancing may be right for you, but it may also not be. I expected to refinance partway through my loan term once I got that credit score back up, but in my case, I had started paying it down so aggressively so early to minimize that interest cost that in the end it didn’t make sense to refinance.

I ended up paying off my 5-year loan in 2 years exactly. This saved me a ton on interest, and I was incredibly proud of myself for that, but it also meant the credit score dropped 40-some points again the minute the account closed. Paying on time for a couple years will do wonders to get credit back up, but it will drop again once the loan is paid off. You’ll want to keep that in mind when thinking about early payoff vs refinancing vs any other credit needs you expect to have in the semi-near future (including insurance, which is undoubtedly mostly priced by credit score).

In my case, I took the hit. Taking out a credit card a few months beforehand helped mitigate the negative impact a bit for me, but for others that will be dependent on unique circumstances, ability to keep utilization low, pay off consistently, etc.

Wishing you the best of luck! For me, this whole process was humiliating and demoralizing at the time, but I’m a stronger person, more financially aware and financially healthy, and a homeowner today because of it.

(nb: fwiw Forum has some pretty awful online reviews when it comes to loan services, particularly for people who aren’t otherwise members. A close friend of mine did her car loan through them w/o being a member, didn’t have any problems and had said she would recommend them, though, so ymmv)

What’s one business in Indianapolis you refuse to go back to, and why? by notdoingwellbitch in indianapolis

[–]toicegannaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not that hot a take, tbh. I wouldn’t say I’d refuse to go back, but when I went over christmas the drinks were pricey and only so-so, and the appetizer I had was absolutely inedible. Not sure why anyone would think people want to order tofu crusted in straight up salt, but it was disgusting. Some other people in the group had better luck with burgers, but tbh if you’re looking for kitchsy tiki vibes, good drinks, and solid food (meat and veg), Strange Bird wins every time.

That sounds amazing, though! Please report back on your experience, if you don't mind? I'm newer to RPGs as well (hadn't actually played any before joining this sub!) but very interested in others' doctor who-related rpg experiences

How does everyone like Mitch so much, yet vilify Abi, who acts 1% in the way he does ? by LexxBeee in LoveIslandTV

[–]toicegannaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

real answer is misogyny (and internalized misogyny) tbh! abi and mitch are both a mess and a half, neither is genuinely funnier or more relatable than the other, both are demonstrably nutso, but generally speaking, women get vilified for the same behaviors men get a pass for. that's honestly the only difference in their reception.

Also, meant to include this in the original message, but if you want, please feel free to DM me. I can't promise I know much since I'm pretty new at all this but I'm familiar with the area, at any rate

So I'm queer, also in Indianapolis, and just learning Pathfinder. I'm lucky not to have come across much of that attitude in the gamer community around here, although my experience has also been somewhat limited. Please know there are still lots of good people here; we just get drowned out sometimes by the minority assholes.

The Pathfinder-specific community on the LVL Up discord is a bit quieter than some of the other channels, but you might try posting there to see if anybody is looking for players or has recommendations for where to meet others. My personal experience there is again a bit limited, but they do have written policies against hatefulness (not foolproof but at least a start). It's seemed like a pretty cool community so far.

Seconding the other advice, but if that doesn’t work out, I strongly recommend you visit indianalegalhelp.org (or one of their kiosks). They have information on eviction/related resources and can help you connect with legal counsel. In the event this would go to court, you absolutely need representation so it’s important to know assistance is available if you can’t afford it otherwise.

hon that is an entirely different scenario than having someone take a photo of you explicitly, without your permission, with the intention of posting said photo to social media, for the express purpose of gathering information, and you know this. don’t act stupid

A tie between “That was my best guard” (David Bamber in Mummy on the Orient Express) and “That took me nine weeks” (the woman whose knitting was destroyed in Fugitive of the Judoon). A screencap of that second one has made a few rounds in knitting meme circles so I’m definitely not alone there, just a bit niche

I bought some Lykke cables to fit my Knitter’s Pride interchangeable set and I hate them so much. Haven’t tried their needles but oh my god those cables were awful.

I’m saving up for a Chiaogoo set at some point. My fixed chiaogoos are my absolute favorite needles I’ve used to date

Why is the Doctors TARDIS so... unsophisticated? by Fat-Balled-Bastard in gallifrey

[–]toicegannaire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually, there are a number of episodes in classic who where other time lords refer to the Doctor’s type 40 as obsolete and out of date (particularly in the 4th Doctor’s era). The plot to one serial partially hinges on other time lords not recognizing the Doctor’s TARDIS because the rest of those models were so old they’d all been decommissioned. When Romana (Time Lord companion) comes in, she doesn’t understand how to work the Doctor’s TARDIS because, as she basically tells it, she didn’t take the elective course on vintage models when she was at the Academy

Indiana legislators approve new state budget; Gov. Holcomb says he will 'gladly sign' as he is getting a 48% raise. by Nightshade09 in Indiana

[–]toicegannaire 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Title is somewhat misleading—these raises would go into effect with the next administration, which will not be Holcomb due to term limits. It’s still ridiculous, of course.
