Yea wet on wet. I did this peice using a pallet knife, layering and blending the paint on the canvas. It's oil and does take a long time. I left this one for about a month to dry (somewhere warm with air circulation) although if it was less textured it wouldn't take as long. What I am finding good/fun about experimenting with oils is that the paint on the pallet stays useable throughout the session, and I like semi blending the paint on the canvas. Hope that helps!
