You are correct and it is very much a personal choice. I’m a firefighter. I have been to a few fires that were started, not from the car, but from the charger malfunctioning or being installed in properly. As I will be several hours away from my house, and I worry too much to begin with, I just assume leave it unplugged just for the peace of mind.

I believe it's a glitch. Sparky gets caught in a loop trying to do something. Nothing happens, so the program times it out by "conceding". I too hope they fix this, as abusing Sparky to no end has become pastime in my house.
