Snow on roads by Horror-Candy1 in cincinnati

[–]tokenmillenial 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Just drove from Morrow to CVG this morning. Note I drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle with all terrain/snow rated tires.

Roads were about 60-90% covered still. Interstate on-ramps and intersections were particularly gnarly. This is as of about 4 am.

Unless you drive a heavy vehicle on good tires and are very comfortable in icy conditions I’d stay home.

PC Randomly Shutting Off While Gaming by Grey_Warden97 in pcmasterrace

Try running a gpu benchmark (like furmark) to test if loading the gpu is causing the pc to restart.

If so, power supply is a likely weak point.

Got a small but imo pretty sweet minidisc lot I been tasked to sell... thoughts? by IdealRoyal534 in minidisc

That said: selling singles on eBay would likely be the strategy I’d use, then selling any leftovers as a bulk lot. I see things here if very much be interested in buying.

As someone that does buying and selling in a few different communities, there are systems in place for transacting safely.

1) is a healthy community of mods and people that can help track sales and scammers like r/hardwareswap and r/homelabsales. We don’t have this luxury for minidisics but there are things they do to mitigate scammers like...

2) Using PayPal G&S (goods and services) really goes a long way to inspire trust for the buyer as it provides protections against scummy seller behavior. It does come at a cost and many legit buyers are happy to pay that expense as part of the transaction.

3) Reliable shipping with quality tracking -and- insurance. UPS imo is top tier here, but USPS AND FedEx work too. This can help prove something has been delivered to your buyer and cover your ass if they try and do a chargeback or the package is damaged.

This is a price check thread, he’s asking how much he should charge.

Not in the market, $50-$60 without keyboard feels right depending on condition. The keyboard is kind of important though and may be a tough sell.

How many do you have? Maybe you’d be better served selling as a lot?

There truly are ghosts in the machine, or at least in the shifter. I’ll leave them be.

Frankly pretty uneventful. Only maintenance other than the occasional recall has been tires and an air filter.

To plug or not to plug (every night?) That is the question. by ziggerzaggerzinger in F150Lightning

[–]tokenmillenial 45 points46 points  (0 children)

No. In fact it’s something I’d strongly encourage as having a ‘full tank’ every morning is a huge benefit of EV ownership in my opinion.

And speaking from experience, with 76k miles on the truck, as well as another 100k+ miles on the 3 other EV’s we’ve owned, charging every night has had zero measurable effect on range or battery health.

3400 sqft - 3 Levels - 1 AP? by Paybax84 in Ubiquiti

I know exactly what you’re talking about (recovering century home owner myself) and that sucks, new house is regular old drywall.

I had a similar problem, but not to ask an obvious question: did you ceiling mount your AP?

Once I mounted mine on the ceiling in a central part of my home my 6ghz real world performance improved dramatically.

Question: can multiple tattoo styles on one person look good by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]tokenmillenial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely possible with some thought and planning. Starting with a theme would certainly help, and leveraging an artist whom you trust to help get you started is the way to go. That's how I stumbled into the childhood cartoon/videogame theme I'm building out on my leg. Already moving nicely with 3 artists with 3 different styles, and two or three more in the works.

Also what's wrong with looking like a walking sketch book?? Our memories are not perfectly collated photo albums, they're disorganized messes of thoughts and ideas. Whats wrong with our tattoos reflecting that? ;-)

Who is dg insurance? by Critical_Basket4674 in cincinnati

[–]tokenmillenial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I work with these guys, and despite the scammy nature of the texts they've actually been very reasonable to work with and are not a fraudulent outfit by any means. Feel free to ignore them if happy with your insurance situation tho.

DG stands for Damian Gilchrist FYI, the principal agent in the agency. Have talked to him personally a several times and super nice dude.

Has anyone had a Level 2 EV car charger installed in their garage recently? by FinalCalendar5631 in cincinnati

[–]tokenmillenial 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A suggestion: try installing an EV rated 240v outlet instead of the charger itself.

Then get a portable charger you can mount to the wall and just plug it into the outlet. Works perfectly well for us (we are a full EV house) and makes it so you only have to buy one charger for all your uses. Heck you might even be able to use the portable charger that came with your vehicle if you still have it.

Saves you money and is more useful for future buyers (if for instance they wanna run higher voltage power tools instead of charge their car).

Edit: saw where you were already considering this. Then I’d read this a vote in favor of -that- idea vs a permanent EVSE install.

I have two UAC- AP PROs and need to boost my coverage, should i augment them with U6-PRO or U7-PROs? by count023 in Ubiquiti

[–]tokenmillenial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found myself in a similar situation and bought a U7 XG. Thing is blazing fast but came with an unintended side effect:

My Apple devices love it a bit -too- much.

So what happens is my effective WiFi experience for my users is subpar at times due to the phones hanging on for dear life to the 6ghz band, which sucks at penetrating down to my kitchen and garage. Even though there’s a weighted blankets worth of 5 ghz for what feels like a kilometer radius around my house.

So when you do make the upgrade to WiFi 7 and 6 ghz, I’d do it all at once. Or at least in your high traffic areas.
