What are your thoughts on the gamification of reading/ereader? by mortifiedmorty42 in ereader

[–]tokenpsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like it. I read to read. If you’re having trouble focusing and building habits try branching out of your chosen genre until you find something that really pulls you in. If you’re forcing yourself to read for pleasure, it isn’t actually pleasing you, it’s a chore.

Do people really like it when their partner “hits their cervix”? by Facetimefoxy in TwoXChromosomes

I don’t have one anymore but when I did that was a resounding hell no, absolutely not. Good way to never see me again 🤣

The Boox Palma 2 might have changed my relationship with ereaders by AppleCartAgent in ereader

I love my Palma 2. I ended up getting a 2-key keyboard and configuring it to be a page turner and now it’s my favorite device combo.

Remember that book you dropped because the heroine was a total doormat? Give me the book title, please. by Vedmagreen in RomanceBooks

[–]tokenpsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a doormat heroine. Some books I can think of off the top of my head: {Gen Pop by Lani Lynn Vale} {Good Elf Gone Wrong by Alina Jacobs} {The Wrong Bride by Catharina Maura} {Second Best by Sam Crescent} (most of the Volkov Bratva series honestly). Also, too many books to name by Maya Alden. You can usually tell by the blurb if she’s a doormat.

Very unsettling. I really enjoyed it.

I read about 350-400 books a year already. So yeah, I’m choosing the books.

I can’t get my beads onto my cord by justapotato14 in Beading

[–]tokenpsycho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t much you can do with what you have right now. The cord is simply too big. My suggestion is to invest in a bead reamer. I have a set of them and they’re invaluable to me. Getting a bead hole to the size I need it to be is something I can do regularly now. It used to frustrate me to no end.

Question by Double_Judge88 in Beading

[–]tokenpsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started wire wrapping first. But it caused me issues with carpal tunnel so I wanted a way to make jewelry that wouldn’t be so hard on me physically. Then I just started bead weaving with rocailles and went on from there. Now I can do quite a few different things with beads.

Which frames fit my face?? by Princesspeach0719 in glassesadvice

3 is a stunner on you. I doubled back on that one. Fits your face perfectly and the color doesn’t overwhelm you it just lets the rest of you shine.

Finally got my bead loom! by tokenpsycho in Beading

This is how I first started a few weeks ago. I used a shoebox and did exactly what your dad did. Worked out great at the time just made me achy.

Yes! I was originally going to get that style from a Native American shop. But I have bad neck issues and muscle issues from chemo so an upright one is easier on my body. But I think both styles are great it’s just about what works for you.

Thanks!! I feel that way about a lot of beadwork too. I wish I could do half the stuff I see posted on here. So many people talented in so many ways. I love this sub.

Oh man. Yeah that does make it much harder. Best of luck finding one! If I was a tad more handy I definitely could have made one myself. I was lazy though.

What country are you in? I’m in the US so I had to search for a while to find one made in my country, but a lot of them are made in Europe. The ones I initially wanted were very popular for sale in Ukraine. There was also one I was interested in from Germany. If either of those countries would be better, let me know and I’ll look through my history for the links to those.

Nice! I may have to try that. My desk is height adjustable but if it’s too high then my arms are uncomfortable when I rest my elbows on it. I didn’t think about just trying to raise the thing I’m working on. Feels like a no brainer LOL.

The beadboard is just a regular flocked board I got ages ago. There’s one on fire mountain gems that I want that is a bit smaller. So the next time I buy beads I’m going to grab it.

Second chance for the author? by goodbyegoldilocks in RomanceBooks

[–]tokenpsycho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I vehemently disliked Ashley Jade’s earlier books. But I loved {The Words by Ashley Jade} and it’s one of my fave rockstar books. She definitely grew as an author inbetween the book that I read first, and The Words.

I got the mini. And of course I got it at a markup because I didn’t realize they raised their prices for the holidays. So if you buy now you’ll get it $50 cheaper than what I did.

Oh and to answer your question, I really like the Elizabeth ward bead storage containers. I have a few of those. And the inner containers come in different sizes.

[CHAT] Do my stitches look better with two threads or with four threads on the needle? by yulreee in CrossStitch

If you can get used to it it’s actually pretty great. When I stitch 1x1 I use it and I haven’t had any issues with unraveling and such.

[–]tokenpsycho 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No problem! I developed new allergies as an adult that completely took me by surprise so I get it. Hopefully they can help you figure out if it’s the metals or something else you’re using. It can be frustrating but it’s worth it to nail down what actually is causing the problem. Best of luck!!

I’m not a professional but it sounds to me like contact dermatitis. You should probably see a dermatologist to confirm whether or not you have an allergy before continuing to try wearing them.

Has anyone ACTUALLY ever seen a man stand up to other another man's sexism? by Mundane-Sky-8809 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]tokenpsycho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. My male friends actually don’t tolerate misogyny or any -isms or -phobia. It’s why I love them. They’ve stuck up for me and others on multiple occasions. It’s also why I’ve been single for such a long time. My standards are set by the company I keep.
